  1. Training drill for first 5 shots

Kind of like an expedite rule. If the server has not won the point within the first five shots, he loses the point. Score by 1. Play games to 7.
  2. Training drill for first 5 shots

It is great. But hard to keep track of the points!
  3. How do you deal with nerves in matches?

Actually I used to start slow. Nevous. Then I would settle down and be ok. Then bad at the end. I can tell you about several of my own epic chokes at various times in life. Never truly solved it . i needed to just beat people from the middle of the match on and not let it get close. Not...
  4. Why are Evolution rubbers still less popular than tenergy?

I actually played a little better with Tenergy 05 than MX-P but it took me a long time to figure it out. T05 allowed just a little better margin for error in real play. Later I figured out, thanks to recommendations from people here and at MyTT, that what works best for me is a very linear...
  5. How do you deal with nerves in matches?

Many books have been written on this. Countless. Some I thought were interesting reading are Winning Ugly by Brad Gilbert, the Zen of Tennis by Nancy Koran but there are gazillions of others. And I can't help suspecting that it is all bullshit because everybody chokes from time to time...
  6. How do you deal with nerves in matches?

Whoever comes up with an infallible solution to this will be the greatest sports scientist/psychologist in history.
  7. Why are Evolution rubbers still less popular than tenergy?

The blade Drinkhall uses is basically a Tibhar Viscaria. It is worth mentioning that Btfly dominates over ESN in Asia (especially in Japan). North American market is small but Btfly does well here with both blades and Tenergy. I think Btfly makes things difficult for people who want to sell...
  8. Why are Evolution rubbers still less popular than tenergy?

Somebody recently posted here the rackets of all the players at the 2016 ETTC. Still lots of really good players using Tenergy, if I remember correctly as much or more than everything else combined, and their livelihoods depend on their making the best decision. It seems likely that more...
  9. Boycott effects: ML, XX and FZD get suspended?

ITTF on the wrong side of history here.
  10. Is this blade broken?

If that doesn't happen to your blade on occasion, it means you are not trying hard enough. But I recommend edge tape.
  11. Xiom stradivarius

Solidly OFF. Some might even be OFF+, depending on weight. The feel and speed are reminiscent of Butterfly ALC blades like the Timo Boll Spirit, but the weight distribution felt a bit different to me. In general a very good blade for conventional offensive players, with outstanding build...
  12. Article: Liu Guoliang's Impressions On The New 2017 DHS Plastic Ball!

It should be mentioned that the very first time Dima Ovtcharov tried the DHS plastic ball, he liked it very much. Also, former professional players I know love the Nittaku Premium (and the D40+ also when I gave them some)...

  14. How much do you spend on racket every year?

Similarly the ideal number of rubbers purchased per year (Q) is given by: Q = 2 (i + j) where i is the number of new rubbers introduced by Butterfly and j is the number of new rubbers introduced by ESN. Some Chinese investigators prefer to modify this as follows, where k is number of new...
  15. How much do you spend on racket every year?

It has been argued that at any given time, the ideal number of blades to own (Y) is given by: Y = n + 1 where n is the number of blades that you own now.
  16. Fan Zhendong equipment

Always helps to use one when you are dealing with clueless people like me.
  17. Fan Zhendong equipment

I don't think he could play tbe way he does with 40+ balls without a composite blade.
  18. Fan Zhendong equipment

Except the Viscaria was introduced in early 1990s so is not a clone of anything.
  19. Martial Arts & TT

The question is, how do I hide my serve in Wing Tsun?
  20. Martial Arts & TT

For sure, all sports in which the same motion is repeated endlessly can eventually cause physical problems. For me so far so good. In road cycling the fit to every aspect of the bike is crucial. And of course there are cars. Terrifying large metal objects not seeing me at high speeds. :(
