  1. sponserships

Not sure where in the world you are, but here (England), you need to play well, achieve a good ranking, and the 1st place to try might be a TT equipment supplier. Plan B might be to post vids of yourself on the internet and hope to be spotted and offered a contract from there.
  2. Timo Boll Blade - Prize Draw!

I want this blade as I have a door at home which keeps swinging open a little. I think with a file I could transform the end into a wedge shape and produce a door stop to instantly solve our household draught issues.
  3. Players You Dislike

It would be interesting to see how any of us would cope and what we would do constantly playing in a situation where any bad result might get you kicked out of the national team. I don't think any of us really know what that is like.
  4. German Open 2011

Most people probably vote first and then read this after. (Just like me.)
  5. Upcoming stars

Talent is something that comes from hours and hours of practice. To people who don't see these hours and hours of practice then this probably looks like a natural ability. Take this practice away and any of the top players would just be a normal person doing a normal job.
  6. Cutting and Sticking

You just have to have a go and the more you do it then the better you get. Rather like everything else in this game.
  7. Cutting and Sticking

Fred got a couple of new rubbers yesterday, so being as I was looking for something to do, I made a vid showing how I make up a bat. I know most of you will be pretty good at this sort of thing, but for anyone who is looking for a rough guide then this could be useful. Just before 6 mins, it...
  8. Serving?

No, as I said in my previous post, you actually say this - 'he removes the hand right before the ball hits the paddle'. This is illegal and it is about time umpires either picked up on this or we actually had a rule which can be enforced (rather like the boosters issue).
  9. Serving?

If you are leaving your arm in there until a fraction before you hit the ball then you are not following the rule. You say yourself that he removes the arm right before the ball hits the paddle. You don't say he begins removing his arm slowly just after throwing it up. So he is not serving legelly.
  10. Serving?

There is wording saying how quickly it has to be removed, it is highlighted in red in my above post.
  11. Serving?

People are right to complain because according to the rules, he should be removing his hand earlier. '2.06.05 As soon as the ball has been projected, the server’s free arm and hand shall be removed from the space between the ball and the net.'
  12. Funniest/Worst Let Point Ever!!!

'Funniest/Worst Let Point Ever!!!' is maybe a slight overstatement. Similar things happen to most of us at multi-table venues pretty regularly.
  13. What 's the secret?

I understood that the rankings don't currently say that Ma Long is better than everyone else.
  14. English Open 2011

Is any of it going to be on the ITTF's itTV channel? I hope we don't have to rely on a few half hearted clips here and there on the ETTA Youtube channel.
  15. What table tennis rubbers & blade do you use?

Fantastic stuff. V. Fast, plenty of spin.
  16. Fred's New Year Video

Sadly the 'guy in the red shirt' has decided not to play British League or tournaments this year and has dropped off the ranking list recently. After a couple more years coaching from Fred he will probably make a return just in time to play in a few vets events when he is old enough in a couple...
  17. Why China are so good - The answer is here!!

I'm sure it is great for the few who make it, but what about the millions who don't make it to the top? A few will make it as practice partners, but what about the rest? There must be thousands who give their lives to TT for many years, missing out on much schooling etc and then just get dumped...
  18. Fred's New Year Video

So true what you say, but after much nagging, he seems to prefer his way.
  19. Fred's New Year Video

He will be 8 in April. We did have the multiball box, but just used 2 in the end. He gets his multiball practice when he trains with the Regional Squad as I tend to do other practices with him. I actually put his consistency and his ability to rally well down to a lack of multiball at an early age.
  20. Fred's New Year Video

As advertised earlier today, here is Fred's latest Vid. At the table, I can tell he is moving faster, spinning the ball more and playing more consistently. See what you think. Comment below on some tips and advice and what you think?
