If they rubbed just a little it shouldn't matter. You just rub a bit of the varnish off it to make the glue stick to the blade. You apply varnish because the glue might make the rubber stick to the blade too much. So the amount of varnish to apply to get the right results is always a bit tricky...

Won't they change a bit of that when things like this are published? When this is the result of the way judges interpret the law, I guess they will try and change things. But as u say that is indeed coming with the massive change China made in the past decades I guess.

Yeah I noticed his strokes seem stronger, probably because he lengthened his swing indeed. Interesting :D With his reflexes he should get in time trouble less often than other players with similar length of strokes. Let's hope he can do some great things at the Olympics!

Well if you pretend to make a robot that is an improved version of the human way table tennis is played, I think you should not make it much diffrent from a human. If you make a robot that is a cube fitting in a football goal it will be the best goalkeepr on earth, but that's not the way to go.

It might be able to exactly analyze the ball that is coming towards them in a split second, but... Just think about how many muscles and coördination of it goes in a good shot. I highly doubt that they will make a robot that perfectly times the twist of body, switching weight to the other foot...

Well if you teach the robot some incredibly horrible spinny serves, at least he can't lose. ;)

Yeah nobody in Europe reaches his level at the moment. But I think it is good that players in Europe know the standard that they have to live up to. Imagine if it were Baum or Tokic that was the top level guys. Timo represents Europe and the rest knows that they have a lot to do in the practise...
