Yea I don't doubt it. I think it's more of a toss-up. Against any other world team Japan is almost guaranteed to win. But their odds against the semifinalists in CNT Olympics are less IMO.

If the world's top 8 teams were added to this mock olympics, I wonder how far they would have made it. On the women's side, Japan might not even be guaranteed to make the top 4.

It’s not like Liu Shiwen was completed wrecked by Ito the two times that she lost. She simply used the wrong tactics and played to Ito’s strengths. I doubt any self-respecting world champion would back down from the opportunity to prove that they are indeed the world’s best.
