  1. Which Hurricane 3 version?

Because the extreme tackiness wears off after a few hours of playing. Once that wore off, the boosted orange sponge commercial was like a beast. Tacky, spinny, and bouncy (after boosting it). You could do anything with that rubber....for $21-$22 a sheet. Once that tackiness wore off, the rubber...
  2. What butterfly blade should i get?

Two reasons: 1) Traditionally for Chinese rubber, I have been told that black is tackier than red. If you want to ask me why, that has been the gospel passed on from one decade to the next. 2) Blue sponge is very popular for forehand. Blue sponge only comes in black so there is no choice...
  3. Heming Hu, 2xOlympian (Rio and Tokyo) in Table Tennis here to help your game and personal struggles in the game

Agree. I definitely appreciate Mr. HH's time and knowledge. Hope we can keep the interactions here civil.
  4. Sanwei target national new version

STN blue sponge plays really eerily similar to the DHS provincial BS 39 degrees to me. It is good to hear that STN is more popular than Battle II or Battle III vs other chinese rubbers (save Hurricane blue sponge). I am not quite sure about the hardness of STN but I suspect it is a bit harder...
  5. How do you coach players that have limited strokes?

The correct answer: put a golden Viscaria in their hands and all problems are solved! On a more serious note, I agree with you. I think the keys are: 1) return the serves all over the table so they can get an opening for their forehand loop and 2) serve some no spin and some top spins for a...
  6. Slow blade with fast rubbers vs. Fast blade with slow rubbers

Lol, you mean the under the table slow underspin fishing shot that Truls gave to Fan Zhendong in the Olympics final? Yes, CNT definitely has trouble with those shots :)
  7. How many complete racket setups do you own?

lol I second that. Probably 25 too. But I only use two blades seriously at any time. Backhand rubber changes on which side of the bed I wake up that day.....
  8. What butterfly blade should i get?

Just to repeat what everyone is saying and to answer a couple questions. Do NOT get Timo Boll spirit. Do NOT get Tenergy 05. The shop owner just wants more money. Ok I repeated that message. Gozo likes to randomly throw in some jokes here and there. Dark speed is part of his joke. All wood...
  9. Which Hurricane 3 version?

Commercial orange sponge, when DHS used to make it super tacky, was really fun to play with. Then they took the tackiness off so out goes commercial orange sponge hurricane for me. I have since switched to provincial blue sponge and yeah I like it. But I still miss the good old days. I have...
  10. Heming Hu on Equipment

Golden Viscaria is the gold standard for every player, beginner, intermediate, advance or pro player. Have you been so out of touch that you have not heeded the 2200-USTTA rated God telling us the same message over and over again? :)
  11. Sanwei target national new version

Glad you like STN. Lol, I am not the only one. I am currently using H3 blue sponge right now since I am trying to "get to know my equipment." Once I burn through this batch of H3 blue sponge, I will go back to STN for a while.
  12. Slow blade with fast rubbers vs. Fast blade with slow rubbers

Nowadays I hate blades that give me vibration. I prefer stiff blade. I still use hurricane on the forehand and soft ESN rubber on the backhand side. I think different people prefer different things.
  13. Heming Hu, 2xOlympian (Rio and Tokyo) in Table Tennis here to help your game and personal struggles in the game

Those are very interesting ideas! But that also means he needs to get a few good players together to replicate what Fang Bo has been doing.
  14. What butterfly blade should i get?

I don't like either regular Glayzer or Glayzer 09c. It is just slow. I second the opinion about Primorac (not carbon). I also agree with Rozena 2.1mm or 1.9mm on the forehand side, with 1.9mm Rozena on the backhand side. Rozena does feel like Tenergy-lite. However, Glayzer or Glazyer 09c does...
  15. Advise on equipment upgrade (Sweden extra and Rakza 7)

Only change one variable at a time. Change either the blade or the rubber. Don't change both at the same time. If you train with a coach regularly, then go ahead and change the blade to Timo Boll ALC. If you don't train with a coach regularly, I don't see why you should not stick with the...
  16. Longevity of boosters - any difference?

I have used mostly falco tempo long and Seamoon regular. I have used both of them to boost H3. I don't see much difference between those two. Nowadays I boost H3 with Seamoon regular and I boost ESN with falco tempo long. Why? People said that way is the best way. That's all. I am trying to use...
  17. Good Forehand Rubbers instead of Tenergy 05?

I agree with Xiom Vega Pro. But if you are going for the Donic Bluefire series M3 is too soft to be comparable to Tenergy 05. I have tried Donic Bluefire series M2 on my backhand and I like it. I really think M1 will be more comparable to Tenergy 05 if you want to go that route.
  18. Use of signals in doubles

The signals I learned, growing up, is pretty similar. Index finger down = backspin thumb up = top spin fist = no spin Pointing to the side = side spin (and my partner should just look at if I serve regular forehand pendulum serve v.s. backhand serve to figure out the type of side spin himself)...
  19. Battle of the best FH rubbers

Boosted Hurricane 3 Orange Sponge before they made it less tacky. That orange sponge reacts to booster so well and when the extreme tackiness wore off, that rubber was a beast. Now boosted Hurricane 3 Blue Sponge because top sheet is still semi-tacky (orange sponge's top sheet is barely tacky...
  20. First setup for basement player

I agree. I would advise against getting DNA Platinum rubbers and Stiga Infinity VPS V. If the set up is too fast, you can give it to your son. Rakza 7 is known for its longevity so if you want to keep the setup (Yasaka Sweden Extra with Rakza 7 2.0mm on both sides) for yourself, then you...
