  1. United States Smash 2025, Las Vegas, 7/3-13

Yes at the professional level but not at the club level. You are advocating taking away the protections the club players need at a time when clubs cannot support it. That's my point.
  2. Daily Table Tennis Chit Chat

Lots of great TT channels on YouTube now translating Chinese coaches explaining the nuances of how thry think about technique. The biggest help it has given me is to validate some of my ideas that I used to test out and want to use but departed from because I didn't have coaching validation on...
  3. United States Smash 2025, Las Vegas, 7/3-13

The game was also much uglier and riddled with serve return errors. Go watch LGL vs Schlager in 1999 and honestly tell me you find that match watchable anf fascinating. It was a semifinal of a world championship. If we want to go back to hidden serves and low tosses or even 6 inch tosses I...
  4. United States Smash 2025, Las Vegas, 7/3-13

I actually disagree, unless the kinks on service calls are ironed out and technology that is accessible to players are used to make the calls. The rules were designed to make it hard to cheat and easier for umpires to make calls. You asking dor a return to the rules that require tech to...
  5. United States Smash 2025, Las Vegas, 7/3-13

He challenged after getting faulted on his own serve. He did not challenge Shinozuka's serve, which is what @JJ Ng was discussing. Lots of players habitually hide serves with their head and don't get called on it and it is often tolerated by fellow players who either have their own serve...
  6. United States Smash 2025, Las Vegas, 7/3-13

@piligrim was arguing that Duda would not have been happy beating Wang Chuqin at the World Cup on a TTR call. This to me is pure nonsense, Duda just didn't realize he had the option. But I guess he believes it. I was speaking tongue in cheek about Darko.
  7. United States Smash 2025, Las Vegas, 7/3-13

Darko just did it. I am sure he hates winning that way. What a lame way to beat Shinozuka the first time.
  8. United States Smash 2025, Las Vegas, 7/3-13

Well it isn't the case here either or at the WTTC. So the rule is either being incorrectly enforced or players are allowed to challenge serves. Until there is a hard announcement, I will defer to the latter.
  9. United States Smash 2025, Las Vegas, 7/3-13

    Uda vs Lebrun. Surpass Check!
  10. United States Smash 2025, Las Vegas, 7/3-13

Sad to see Shnozuka catching LHJ disease. Not a good sign for his future.
  11. United States Smash 2025, Las Vegas, 7/3-13

Cheating is very different from enforcing the rules. And Duda is very meticulous about keeping his serves legal. He has one of thr rarest things you will see in table tennis. A high toss reverse pendulum serve. Anyone who goes through the trouble to develop that cares about following the rules.
  12. United States Smash 2025, Las Vegas, 7/3-13

So you mean Duda worked hard on making his serves legal so he could be mad at beating a player who used an illegal serve to beat him? Everyone has their own opinion for sure since we dont know what he would say. But you know mine. I am sure Rosskopf realized it later and taught his team to use...
  13. United States Smash 2025, Las Vegas, 7/3-13

It was match point and he didn't use it. If he had won it at match point, he would not have had to do it again lol.
  14. United States Smash 2025, Las Vegas, 7/3-13

Bardet really leveled up his backhand, there were signs in the Ultimate League, but it is obvious in his matches here. But that forehand swing is just ridiculous in quality.
  15. United States Smash 2025, Las Vegas, 7/3-13

If Duda had done this against WCQ at the World Cup, he may have won the match.
  16. United States Smash 2025, Las Vegas, 7/3-13

People who play like Bardet often end up with back problems at some point.... maybe he has done some major muscle work to protect his spine but men, he hits some crazy shots. The commentators are seeing the forehand.
  17. United States Smash 2025, Las Vegas, 7/3-13

While true that this ruins the impression, this is tied to the logistics and cost of getting large venue. It is easier to get a smaller venue with fewer issues and also provide training tables. Size matters.
  18. United States Smash 2025, Las Vegas, 7/3-13

    # of players is the size of the event. Smashes are WTTC equivalents just not as prestigious or billed as such yet. A World Cup is a small invitational, not even on the level of a national open or championship in complexity or size.
  19. United States Smash 2025, Las Vegas, 7/3-13

Hard to get into the US and waiting for the later rounds.
