  1. Other candidates for GOAT

I find the dismissal of Kong Linghui and Zhang Jike's contributions interesting, especially when players like Timo Boll and Xu Xin are being discussed as if they had major contributions (they really don't). I think Ma Lin has a case but not quite the way you made it, and when you make it...

In which case then he has to win 3 Olympic Teams and 2 Olympic Singles to catch ML by that standard.
  3. Why does the vast majority of top pros use ALC instead of ZLC?

It clearly was the 40+ ball, just about everyone using a Korbel or some all wood precious favorite went to something faster or an innerforce with carbon kick - it did begin with the 40mm ball but the 40+ just ended the discussion for many more players - some compromised and stopped at 7 plies...

Yes, fix it. You hit the ball in the air sometimes if not all the time, but must land on the left foot. Sometimes the left foot crosses the right foot (cross footwork), sometimes it doesn't (semi-cross).

No apologies, I just don't think to hard about equipment, I like wasting money on it and having an opinion on it, but I know that most of the playing level I want to get to is based on skills so equipment is usually an experiment in curiosity. I just have never really enjoyed playing with...

I really do not understand what you are talking about :D... like I said, it might not be best for me, but I do what I like to do lol. I did buy a 38 degree OS and a 41 degree BS for a test one day but I haven't decided when to finalize and put on a blade.

I don't back off the table and I have become too addicted to stickiness to play without it unless I am forced to. Backhand topspin is also a level-relative strength, probably nothing special to a pro, but for a player at my level, most people are pushing when I am spinning.
  8. Why does the vast majority of top pros use ALC instead of ZLC?

Most pros can also generate their own spin though - a lot comes to what you just like.

If I used 37 degree sponge and I boosted it, I would probably hate the result. Just buy Rakza Z instead and call it a day if that is what you want to do.

  11. Why does the vast majority of top pros use ALC instead of ZLC?

ZLC is for plastic ball, ALC is for celluloid ball. Just kidding...

Just reach out to Carl - that said, this is a TT Forum, we stay safer as a TT forum when we stick to TT and avoid politics though that is hard when politics is a part of international life and TT is an international sport in the deepest way.
  13. Side spin theory

Reverse pendulum and attacking with the forehand is more common than you realize, unless you mean reverse pendulum and like to pivot when the ball comes to the backhand, that is pretty rare if the serve is into the forehand, but also not that uncommon if the serve is into the backhand. IF I...
  14. Saudi Smash 2024

I have been notoriously posting on forums for almost 14 years and have met a lot of people including Dan in person. I am hardly nameless or faceless. You just don't know who I am, but if you investigated, you would find out fairly quickly. I have shared videos of my play numerous times on the...
  15. Side spin theory

And I came across a question, for the 3rd ball attacks if you want to hit with your FH, it's better to do a Pendulum serve so the most common reply is for the opponent to go AGAINST the spin and change the spin so the ball with come more to your FH side. A different way to think about it is...
  16. Saudi Smash 2024

The thing is this for me at least - whatever you feel of Tony's posts, he is a known person with identifiable name and address making his contributions to table tennis. I am always wary of people like you who attack people like him and remain nameless, faceless etc. and then continue to act...

  18. Advice to improve my game.

I played Marius a lot when I lived in NJ, so I know how he plays and how awkward his style is and very often, as a lower rated player, when you beat a higher rated player for the first time (and in some cases, only time), it happens under similar circumstances, you change something and they keep...
  19. Why did China not field Wang Manyu after she saved them against India?

They probably have sufficient access to get all the training partners where they need to be and are juat making sure they have the best team in case a fragile player gets injured.
