  1. From allwood to carbon

I know other people may take you seriously, but for me to listen to you, you gotta display some evidence of your level of play/experience. While anyone can use anything they want, what you are saying is true for the shot you are playing, but not true for how you adjust to the next shot you...
  2. rubber shopping and stock

Not that much fun. I thought I was happy with T80 and only tried Nexy Karis because of the hype. Nexy Karis totally changed my brain when it came to rubbers. I used to think I needed the spinniest rubber, but now my technique has improved enough that I need a consistent rubber that I can...
  3. rubber shopping and stock

Hahaha... I will give you the blade to play with. And then you will tell me whether I am an EJ or have just discovered something special. It won't last but it will be good while it lasted. LOL.
  4. rubber shopping and stock

Thanks. Their price is decent at current exchange rates. I just wiped out their stock.
  5. rubber shopping and stock

Is there a shop there where you can find Nittaku Narucross GS Supersoft in a decent volume (10 sheets, 5 red, 5 black)? I will be willing to play a decent amount per sheet to get that.
  6. rubber shopping and stock

I MO, unless you are leaving the rubbers in the freezer or in the sun, 95% of amateur players will play well with old rubbers that have been reasonably stored. They can't be worse than the used 1 year old Tenergy I can still play with.
  7. Beginner Blade + Rubber

Thanks for the video. The most important thing you can do to get better is coaching. In the absence of coaching, do whatever you like for fun, but at your age, using carbon makes it much harder to feel the ball and improve.
  8. Say Hello to a new TTD Member soon

It's not easy to do. You need soft hands. You need to be able to place the ball outside the strike zones of attackers. You sometimes need to keep the ball short. You need to keep the ball low and heavy enough to avoid easy kill shots. You need to be able to move the attacker around. At...

Usually, when analyzing a match, start with serve and serve return. You mostly returned his serves poorly. Maybe not poorly enough to you to make you think about it, but poorly enough not to put him under pressure on the third shot and in most cases give him an advantage if you didn't lose the...

Just because of the long pimples? You have an interesting view of TT. EDIT: I had a friend text me this week that he had just heard of a guy called "pushblocker" who could play with long pips at the table and was 2300 and asked me if it was true. I responded that the guy's highest rating was...
  11. Can European players compete with the Chinese?

The main answer to your question is that to register for an ITTF event, you must be approved by some national association. If you watch ITF (tennis) events, nationality is often factored in (Grand slams, Davis Cup). It is ATP/WTA events that are less reliant on nationality.
  12. Please help me decide

I have kinda told you before that this is not how blades work and that this path is going to hurt your table tennis in the long term. Most pro males started out with 5 ply blades or a blade used by a pro they admired and just train with it. If they determine that on their fast shots, they need...

Come on, he is most famously known as the terrorist on the 4th season of hit show 24. Everyone knows Adonis Maropis.

DerEchte would rather we trust him instead of our lying eyes.
  15. flat hit

It really depends on who is speaking. The Chinese language for table tennis is extremely rich and not all nuances survive translation. And the same is sometimes true for other languages. Some people consider hits, counter hits and drives to be the same stroke while some will consider counter...
  16. Timo Boll zlc alternatives

You can also try Xiom Vega blades depending on what you like, or Donic blades. More ZLC out there these days than people realize, though not quite the same as Timo ZLC.

Great post, Carl. Thanks for sharing a lot of it. Pingskills had a recent video that showed clips of Sato playing during the World Championshops he won, and you can see some in different places. When you look at it, the guy wasn't doing anything special at all. Just pushing and chopping...

I figured out what was happening. The rubbers were light. And it seems that they almost don't make the lighter rubber (Narucross GS Supersoft) any more. IT's a bit of a bummer as I would seriously have considered buying a ton of it in both colors. I used the soft one a while back, but I hear...

I traded a Vega Europe that I had brand new for a new Garaydia T5000. I wanted a modern Schlager carbon and Butterfly blades keep value better, even if I obviously prefer the blade I gave away for my style.

Says who? Isn't it obvious that my forehand is a carbon copy of Zhang Jike's?
