  1. Rio Olympics 2016 (Singles Event)

English is probably not your first language. I am not blaming anything on equipment - I am saying that there is a level of play and quality of ball that Aruna has not familiarized himself with and he needs to play against that level more consistently to be able to deal with it. If you have not...
  2. Rio Olympics 2016 (Singles Event)

I think what you might underestimate is how exposed the top Europeans are to the Chinese. Nigeria has a strong TT tradition dating back to the days of Atanda Musa and his teammates in the 80s and Segun Toriola's in the 90s and 2000s. So the players can pretty much learn Nigerian technique...
  3. Rio Olympics 2016 (Singles Event)

Carl jinxed him. But on a serious note, I have seen that match before - I saw it earlier this year when Aruna played Xu Xin. So I knew what to expect and didn't have any high hopes - the CNT really get up when they play Aruna. The problem is that you can't deal with that CNT quality of ball...
  4. Post 40+, the highway to Quadri Aruna?

And people said I was being racist... I have heard this arguments on mytt as well. People trying to rationalize why Aruna is beating Boll and come up with all kinds of excuses. People also overthink TT technique sometimes. There is nothing inherently wrong with Aruna's technique. Recovery...

Mizutani too good for game 7.
  6. Rio Olympics 2016 (Singles Event)

Carl, I have warned you to stop jinxing my man!!! Stop it. As we say where I come from, you and I will wear the same pair of trousers if you continue this jinxing!
  7. Yasaka Sweden Extra

    Yes, it fits the bill.
  8. Rio Olympics 2016 (Singles Event)

They play in the Super League. Nothing secret about that.
  9. Rio Olympics 2016 (Singles Event)

Fukuhara ruined my bracket. But if anyone can ruin my bracket and leave me not so angry, Fukuhara is the one. She gets too much criticism in Japan. I hope she beats the Korean chopper in the 3rd place match.
  10. if aruna wins....

Yes and lack of money or work life balance or having a full life does not equal happiness either.
  11. if aruna wins....

Whether they win or not affects how their lives look in ten years.

You have to make 5 posts then the button shows up.
  13. Rio Olympics 2016 (Singles Event)

I think more than anything else, the match revealed how technically sound Jeoung is.
  14. Rio Olympics 2016 (Singles Event)

When they asked Jeoung who was going to win the singles gold, his answer was Ma Long. That tells you what happened when the match got tight. Freitas gave a very different answer. That answer tells you what will happen when a match gets tight.
  15. Rio Olympics 2016 (Singles Event)

Why are you jinxing him now??? And all the top players are all awesome athletes! Aruna is just slightly more awesome than many of them. :p
  16. Rio Olympics 2016 (Singles Event)

Sure. Race is only in the heads of those who see it. Like I said, I could have posed the same problem for any player. And I am Nigerian, so I am posing it so that if anyone has a problem with it, I will unleash my patriotic vitriol in their direction.
  17. Rio Olympics 2016 (Singles Event)

I would have rooted for Timo against anyone other than Aruna or Toriola. But after Aruna beat CCY, all I could do was hope. For me, the CNT have always been too simultaneously technically sound and powerful for Aruna to stand a chance. So I am happy with where things are.
  18. Rio Olympics 2016 (Singles Event)

What is this opinion of mine?
  19. Rio Olympics 2016 (Singles Event)

Of course. So if someone had pointed out how bad Timo Boll's forehand is technically (the Chinese say it is), and I mock the person after Timo Boll beats a Chen Qi, for example, I am making the same kind of joke. People can read into it anything they want. But since it is Aruna, rather than...
  20. Rio Olympics 2016 (Singles Event)

Sure. A breath of fresh air. Thanks for the comments - they speak for themselves. Maybe as a Nigerian, I watch Aruna more closely than most people. And I will tell you that the backhand he has now is light years ahead of the backhand he had in September last year. In fact, that is one of...
