  1. Difference between a 2100 and a professional?

The TTEdge app helped me appreciate that the lefty advantage is not trivial. I process lefty actions significantly slower than righty on the app. Therefore, I am always behind when playing lefties. At least, I now have a chance to shrink the gap.
  2. players who win by "oficio"

Haha - if you take kowabunga seriously, you will be pulling your hair out for days.
  3. Difference between a 2100 and a professional?

IMO, once you break 2000 or so as an adult or if you trained properly as kid, everything is just the same, people just do it tighter, better and faster and with more sequences and backup. And people who start younger have more stuff built into their brain to process the ball trajectory etc...
  4. Equipment or technique: not getting enough spin

A wise coach once told me that to get proper feedback online, you need to post video of what you are doing. You have received lots of good advice, Tyler, but it may all not be proper feedback.
  5. Looping slow no spin balls

Archie, don't let Carl break your back. He doesn't remember what it was like to pick up balls without a ball picking machine.
  6. Looping slow no spin balls

Keep that rabbit running on the treadmill...
  7. Looping slow no spin balls

I read too many books a long time ago to believe that I am not some cheap imitation of some far wiser person.
  8. Looping slow no spin balls

When he grows up, he will learn that other than in politics, it is best to underpromise and overdeliver. Or one will perpetually look and sound like an idiot around smart people.
  9. Looping slow no spin balls

    Good for you, Ma Long.
  10. very interesting Float serve

This is third ball but even for serves, a high level coach told me that almost no one serves consistently short below the world class level and that you are better off waiting for a ball to come long to loop it than to reach over the table to attack a ball. The number of balls that will drop...
  11. very interesting Float serve

Ah, if you can consistently attack short heavy backspin over the table, that makes sense. In my experience, this strategy has risks, but it works if it can be done consistently. I don't seriously distinguish between half long and long - half long is actually worse than long as long at least...
  12. very interesting Float serve

If opponents are still pushing your backspin serves long, by all means, continue to use them. I did that too. But any opponent good enough to deny you a third ball on a no-spin serve will deny you one even more easily on a backspin serve by pushing short. For me, the reason why I hate...
  13. trying to put things in the right way

Butterfly for composites, sure, partly because of their innovation, but there are too many good all wood blades to cede any kind of mantle to Stiga, IMO.
  14. very interesting Float serve

Nah, you are too pessimistic about float serves. I probably serve more float/light backspin than anything else because people CANNOT eat it for breakfast once it is low enough and it is hard to put enough spin on the ball to prevent me from coming behind it. Putting it short requires an...
  15. Which poly ball should you choose?

    Aren't those balls crappy?
  16. Difference between a 2100 and a professional?

Brian Pace is inconsistent against the ball Crisan is feeding him. I don't think that is a sign of Crisan's effort level but that is okay. I used to get that kind of comment from lower rated players when I was a blocker. They would ask why I wasn't attacking and wanted me to give them my best...
  17. Difference between a 2100 and a professional?

Here is the match vs Boll. One of a few. https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=CixobZtMLIM
  18. Difference between a 2100 and a professional?

I don't see him trying that much harder. I see the opponent being more powerful and consistent, the latter especially.
  19. Which Point Is More Impressive and Which Point indicates Higher Level TT Play?

They are different videos - I link to the times but unfortunately, this site automatically converts youtube videos to links. The good thing is that your comment helped me notice something I didn't see before which is good.
