  1. Something to think about regarding technique

I honestly wish I knew what you meant. It might actually help me improve my shot. When I loop in practice without moving, I use a running man motion to avoid engaging only the arm as much as possible. MY technique today is probably slightly different but I use the same principle. But maybe I...
  2. Something to think about regarding technique

It's advice that doesn't understand the purpose of the footwork. If you are a two winged looper, you tend to be more neutral to the table to play forehand and backhand. The movement Nikoli is doing is seen more often after a cross step but you can also use it over shorter distances to...
  3. Cocked Wrist issue

Shuki, If you can, take videos of your forehand loop from the back and from the front - 1 minute should be enough. It will be wasy to see if this affects your loop in any important way. I still think your racket is too deeply seated in your palm.
  4. Cocked Wrist issue

OK - in terms of what is happening, I think your coach is really complaining about your grip, not your wrist. It is likely that your finger is to high up the back with that grip you are using right now.
  5. Cocked Wrist issue

I concur with SchemeSC and in fact, I actually argue that the lower position is the correct position. I would argue that your grip is borderline terrible, but grip is a personal thing, and even Danny Seemiller doesn't know how to hold the paddle correctly ;).
  6. Cocked Wrist issue

The pictures do not reflect a cocked wrist. Or at least, they don't show what I am thinking.
  7. Something to think about regarding technique

I was going to write something detailed but Carl has made all the main points about Archosaurus's personality and posts. I don't see anything wrong with what Nikoli is doing and if I did, I would at least see that the player I am talking to possibly plays at likely a higher level than I do and...
  8. Something to think about regarding technique

People really need to be forced to post video of their strokes before criticizing the strokes of other people. Seriously.
  9. Whats is the difference between thibar el-p and buertfly tenergy

I doubt it is the catapult effect. I experience it with Baracuda and the catapult effect of Baracuda sux. EL-P is lower throw and Baal's BH is probably more suited to thin rather than thick contact.
  10. Leaning back in modern over table loop

Yes, from a historical standpoint, not always from a functional or technical standpoint. Some things about technique are quirks. Some things are unique gifts. Some things are just pure accidents. In the end, just focus on the essentials. Let a high level coach fix your accidents.
  11. Leaning back in modern over table loop

Part of the problem is that we are overthinking the small details. You can fault everyone if you look at the small details, even Ma Long. What usually happens is that technical improvement is at the end of an experimental process with basic fundamentals at the start and compromises at the...
  12. Whats is the difference between thibar el-p and buertfly tenergy

So I wanted to see what EL-P was like and put it on a Vega Pro blade in late January. It felt okay but since I had other stuff I liked, I was not in the mood to play with it. I saw one of my Yasaka Sweden Extras last week and I became nostalgic. So I moved the EL-P to it without doing a...
  13. Whats is the difference between thibar el-p and buertfly tenergy

Tenergy 05 if you want more spin, Tenergy 64 for more speed, Tenergy 80 if you just like Tenergy sponge. EL-P is a damn good rubber though...
  14. Multiball please

IF you are really desperate, people who don't play can learn to feed good multiball - it just takes some training and practice.
  15. Matchplay Footage and Counterlooping Practice Footage

DrPaco, I looked at the videos. Carl gave the best advice in that you need to loop much more and play with more spin consistently. Focus on spin over speed for a while. Then when your shot selection becomes really good, you can mix it up. You play too many balls at your opponent, and it is...
  16. Matchplay Footage and Counterlooping Practice Footage

Now I am even more interested in that videotape of your play. Archosaurus, take it from me that you are very intelligent, but most good players in table tennis did not get good by understanding what they do, they got good by drilling as children. As a good friend likes to say, if you ask a...
  17. Matchplay Footage and Counterlooping Practice Footage

Exactly. So take it from someone who does that when someone tells you he has only played for 13 months and is playing as well as DrPaco is, the first thing you do is appreciate how well they play. Because most people were not playing that well after 13 months. Hitting the ball harder in...
  18. Matchplay Footage and Counterlooping Practice Footage

Have you ever coached someone to make him or her a better player? Just curious. Over time, I think posting on this site and the discussions you will have will help you appreciate the mental side of table tennis more. Your posts don't seem to see this, maybe because you are young. There is...
  19. Matchplay Footage and Counterlooping Practice Footage

I wish I could see Archosaurus play. Some good stuff in there as well as some (especially psychologically) dangerous advice. But OP is young. He has time to figure it out and the dangerous advice may be enough anyways. DrPaco, For playing 13 months, your game is excellent. There are...
  20. Matchplay Footage and Counterlooping Practice Footage

He is looking at your form and missing a lot of other details. I agree with you.
