By playing tournaments and beating ranked players. Your coach said your setup is wrong because he thinks for your skill level, you can't manipulate the ball with feeling using it. I can't say that without being there, but my experience tends to dissuade me from recommending hard outer plies to...
  2. Tenergy 25 compared to Tenergy 05?

Seriously? So T25 is so much better than T05 at serving, pushing, blocking and chopping (I never chop, BTW) that it is better for most players than T05, which is probably the best looping rubber in the world and excellent for serving, pushing and topspin blocking? So Sebas, how many good...

mcaisbyz2, are you a ranked player in the UK? How old are you? ;) No one is asking him to buy intermediate setups. If he was a young child, I would let him use his Palio TCT. Children learn to make anything work and have incredible feeling - the extra TCT power might help as well. But he...
  4. Tenergy 25 compared to Tenergy 05?

    My sentiments precisely.

Just use the Innerforce with the T05FX. Get used to the feeling of holding the ball - it will feel like a pillow sometimes but that is okay and is part of this. If you don't like T05FX, then learn to do a glue job and take the 05FX rubbers off and use the Rasant Grip on the Innerforce. Rasant...
  6. The best advice your coach has given you?

"The simplest way to get better is to work hard on your backhand. At the levels you play, almost no one works on their backhand." "If you keep taking your shots, you'll be making them." "You guys, always trying to drive the ball past people. Do you know you can actually spin the ball slowly...

Both are pretty similar from what I read, both are better than the TCT. I, because I prefer Limba to Koto, and because Innerforce blades are also designed to feel pretty woody, would prefer the Innerforce. I have also hit with it before. You will get a composite kick when you swing at high...

Since you brought it up... Andy, I started playing seriously as an adult 4 years ago. I played a tournament without any coaching in March 2011 and got my first lessons in July 2011 or so. I've had degenerative arthritis throughout and as my body has gotten worse, my TT has gotten better...
  9. Tenergy 25 compared to Tenergy 05?

Don't do it.... T25 is a specialist rubber for close to the table topspinners and it plays differently once you back off the table. If you really want to do it, try out someone else's blade before buying it. Use it both close to and away from the table You will see that it is just a...

Ah, sad to hear you have the same issues I do... Good luck with it then. I watched some more video and July 21 Part 2 and 3 was a great improvement and remedied most of what I saw as issues on your Forehand except the brushing aspect - brush on both backspin AND topspin. So I think you are...

I hear you, but it is not so much about being tough but getting the basics down. Your forehand technique is good, but it could be better and I prefer that you master the stroke before going into drills where you have to move as the pressure of moving while doing strokes creates bad habits and...

I looked at the most recent videos - how long have you been playing for? You seem to be making good progress. Your coach is a good player, but his approach to teaching leaves a lot to the ability of the student and by the looks of it, you are pretty able. It is definitely going to make you...

For 1 year, he is a good player. He is getting stronger but he is still using the same lifting strokes than he used when he didn't have hand speed. Tell him to play more forward over the ball on all his strokes. Instead of finishing upward, finish at a point more in front of the body. He can...
  14. Table Tennis Advice

How long has he been playing and how old is he? That's the first and most important question. Everything always needs work, but if he has been playing 1 month, this is ridiculously good. If he has been playing 5 years, then maybe a different take.
  15. Excessive shouting after a point

Generally, if I am playing a lower rated player and they start choing, I immediately start getting louder and louder, and trust me, you do not want to see me when I get louder... I have two choing matches that I hate - one win, one loss. The first, I was playing a tomboy and I mocked her...
  16. Which poly ball should you choose?

Slapping backspin looping is not easy. It takes real talent to do slap backspin and think you are looping. Not for ordinary well adjusted mortals like yourself, UpSideDownCarl... welcome back!

  19. Tibhar Evolution MX-S Review

I haven't used T05FX in a while and never for a very long period. MX-S is harder and less catapulty so it plays in some ways more like a Chinese rubber. My guess is that this was Tibhar's primary aim in creating this version of Evolution - to have something for players with Chinese style...
  20. Backhand rubber

That's why I said short pips. I think short pips are close enough to inverted, especially on the backhand, for the strokes to be reused. But beyond that, I doubt it, but I don't have the coaching experience so it is just a very strong and informed opinion.
