  1. Can rubbers achieve even more catapult than currently?

Tangential catapult is where it's at, this is the stuff that generates a lot of spin
  2. Daily Table Tennis Chit Chat

Yes, it is easier to use the BH dominant loop if you start with reverse serves to their BH. One of the best patterns i found is to serve it to their extreme BH, they will be scared of returning it down the line if you are deceptive enough and your spin is strong. And then you simply treat it...
  3. Advice against annoying style

Against the FH hooked "loop" if you block it passively obviously it will go into the net. This is basically an opportunity ball for you as it is just a slow sidespin ball (depending on how he hooked it it will either have sideunder or sidetop), just treat it as a pendulum serve from a righty and...

I'm actually quite curious how hinoki would play with a slower boosted Hurricane. Wouldn't that be the ultimate penhold loopkill machine, especially when coupled with the short game from the Hurricane?
  5. Daily Table Tennis Chit Chat

I played against one very high level Jpen player who also used some hinoki some months ago and it was ridiculous how fast the TPB punch was with such tiny amounts of input power that he put in. It was a tough as nails match which I lost mostly due to not being able to match his speed in BH-BH...

On the good side, you can simply rely on the blade speed and use cheap af rubbers, might be a lot more economical in the long run? Lol
  7. Daily Table Tennis Chit Chat

That hinoki is a bit crazy then...it seems way bouncier than my Viscaria tbh which is already very bouncy! I have no idea how you played it with Tenergy last time, it must have been like steering a rocketship. Also how do you even do short pushes using that setup lol, i think it would be so...

I cant believe this Hinoki blade, this somehow makes Flextra look fast and spinny??!! This is kinda a feat lol...
  9. Quadri Aruna - multiball with his daughter

Yes... but even in this video you can see he makes a lot more errors with his BH than his FH. If you watch really good BH players like Fan Zhendong and ZJK they barely make any errors in training even when they loop with very high quality.
  10. How were pendulum serves returned, before the backhand Flip was more established?

But with the old ball, sideswipes like this just invites the spinny opening loop which was probably very scary to deal with due to the spin quality.
  11. Simple game-winning hacks that nobody tells you

Basically for all techniques (loops, pushes, sideswipes, flicks, etc...) you need to know exactly what to do and how to vary your technique against all 7 types of spin (pendulum sideunder, sidetop, reverse pendulum sideunder, sidetop, pure backspin, no spin, topspin). And then you simply select...
  12. How were pendulum serves returned, before the backhand Flip was more established?

With BH the new left to right sideswipe(strawberry like?) technique allows you to deal with some ambiguity in the pendulum serve spin by going against the spin and produce a very spinny outgoing ball that is long, but not so easy to attack strongly due to the sidespin generated. I noticed Sun...
  13. Simple game-winning hacks that nobody tells you

I have a hack recently. I realised that a lot of people don't really go into detail in spin reading, not just off the receive but on all balls. Mostly due to laziness. And they always try to use one contact method to deal with all types of spins. And when they miss, they blame their technique or...
  14. TableTennisDaily vs Pongfinity | BIGGEST MATCH EVER!

I want to point out that Otto looped to produce strong side backspin a few times in his matches. For those who still dont believe that it is possible :)
  15. How were pendulum serves returned, before the backhand Flip was more established?

Check out the amount of spin and speed they generate with such little input power from the body (comparatively speaking), if they did those strokes with the new ball it would be slow af and not even that spinny, and thus very vulnerable.
  16. How were pendulum serves returned, before the backhand Flip was more established?

You can watch some Kong Linghui matches. He uses BH receive (particularly simple pushes or traditional flips) and it is very effective still.
  17. TableTennisDaily vs Pongfinity | BIGGEST MATCH EVER!

Yeah... Emil probably is not suited to chopping or trained a lot on it. At this point LP OX almost seems better. Surprised that Otto lost as he is an international player!
  18. How to judge ball length?

Yes if you do a big arm backswing and swing at a half long ball, if it turns out short you will hurt your hand big time. Jang Woojin and Kristian Karlsson both have done that and suffered very bad injuries. It is very important to first assume it is short, keep your hand high and follow the...
  19. How to judge ball length?

The other thing is that if you have any kind of arm backswing you will struggle af against these length variations...because once you swing your arm backwards you cannot hope to get back to a push position. But if I dont do arm backswing (elbow still close to body, hand high) and wait for the...
  20. How to judge ball length?

Divide the table into half (in terms of length). Anything that lands within first half is likely short and if it lands within second half is likely long. This is not necessarily correct though, it depends on the spin of the ball, but imo it is about right.
