  1. Daily Table Tennis Chit Chat

I started off with chiquita and it did some bad stuff to my BH loop, namely the tendency to keep the elbow too high which is a hindrance to power generation and stability imo... but it taught me how to create a lot of spin with pretty much just the fingers and forearm which probably made my BH...

For me I guess I don't push the elbow forward for the BH, I personally play BHs with the elbow quite close to the body relatively, it makes for easier BH-FH transition if the elbow positions are similar.
  3. Tacky rubbers recommendations

Just to add the discussion, I also think grippy rubbers serve with more spin at lower force impacts especially with the likes of Dignics which makes it super easy to spin, but once you start being able to brush really hard with the entire body force on the serve, tacky rubbers really shine...

Yes, you've got the gist of the modern BH where you don't use the hand to drop the racket anywhere as low as the thigh but more towards the hip level even against heavy backspin. The way to get low is using the legs and hips, not the hand. This is because it takes time to drop the racket low -...

It sounds a bit like sternum pain from what he described. I used to have them when I was doing dips, it took quite a while to get the sternum to recover and get stronger. From what I know it might not be a muscular thing which usually takes a much shorter time to recover.. It's probably because...

What he's doing on the FH isn't even a loop but a kinda slap counter where he borrows my spin and hooks the ball out wide - I noticed Adriana Diaz does the same kind of shots from time to time. He keeps his racket high and there's barely any backswing. Tbh I haven't seen a lot of this kind of...
  7. Daily Table Tennis Chit Chat

Yep, I noticed that he can only do it against my BH opening loops which have less spin than my FH opening loops. Maybe a solution would be to really load up on the spin of the BH loop too.

Yeah I don't see the pros handling it well either 😂😂😂 This is such a killer shot if it lands at high percentages.... Even middle or FH doesn't stop him from executing this sidespin flathit.... I think the only way I avoid this is if I loop it really wide to his BH (ball exiting the sides) but...

Thanks! The big issue is that it curves away from me, so the further away from the table I am, the more distance I have to cover. The guy can do this shot with both FH (hooking the ball) and BH (fading the ball), and can do it even against loops to his middle - it's the most annoying shot I've...

What would you guys do if someone flat hits your opening loops and adds sidespin curving away from you to your wide FH? Unlike topspin balls I can't just borrow the incoming spin to redirect it back to their wide FH. Is it just a matter of increasing quality up to a point where they can't do...

Woohoo! Yeah tucking the elbow in during the backswing crucially allows for a lever of adjustment against weirder balls, because from this position you can do the chicken wing FH or the straight arm FH depending on your positioning. You can't be expecting to get into perfect position for every...

I don't have the benefit of a robot or multiball so all my practice is from actual scenarios in hitting with human opponents, so for me the transition was quite natural. I had to substitute it with a lot of shadow practice in front of a mirror instead. On shot stability, I saw a clip by Zhang...
  13. DHS Hurricane Long 5 vs Butterfly Harimoto Innerforce ALC

Long 5 has incredible dwell time for FH loopkills if you pair it with say 09c or boosted Hurricane. But like everyone here, I think BH is the problem. It's just way too soft for BH imo and makes it unnecessarily difficult in high pressure BH-BH topspin rallying.
  14. Aliexpress has big annual sale in 1 week. Are you getting something?

It's funny coz these ppl completely ignore all the Middle East wars where literally many millions of innocent people were killed needlessly, and it's continuing via drone strikes etc up to this day, Agent Orange in Vietnam, and of course what happened to the Native Americans which is an actual...
  15. Post your latest EJ purchase

I recently bought 4 compression T-shirts from under armour haha, can't wait to use them for table tennis purposes! I used one recently and it felt amazing because it helped me brace my core and also deal with the sweat highly efficiently (even more so than modern quick drying shirts)

At least based on these reviews, it appears that Jupiter 3 needs to be boosted, and the tackiness goes away in 1 month. That's quite a far cry from Hurricane 8-80 which holds its tack for long amounts of time and holds its performance for 3 months and counting (I'm still using it with no...
  17. Aliexpress has big annual sale in 1 week. Are you getting something?

I think you can use Hurricane 8-80 without booster easily. Imo it is one of the biggest breakthroughs that DHS has, although it is still not up there with boosted Hurricane which is the gold standard for FH in general....
  18. Chinese all boosting, yet never caught red handed/ Why?

It's not so much about linearity (ie force input vs speed output), but the way it increases the dwell time so much, even with a non tacky topsheet - maybe it's the tangential coefficient of restitution here?
  19. Chinese all boosting, yet never caught red handed/ Why?

For me, I wish DHS could develop something like Butterfly's spring sponge X technology to combine with their tacky topsheets (Hurricane 8-80 is already amazing but imagine them having access to Dignics sponge)....
  20. WTT Singapore Smash 2023

You can produce fake loops (loops without much rotation) with Dignics too. I do it with my D05 BH too.... Waldner did it plenty in 2004 Olympics against Timo Boll too with speed glued rubbers that are not tacky....
