  1. The Big Smack

Matt has much better technique IMO.... Is Matt here on this forum? Where is he based in Australia?
  2. World Team Championships 2012

I still think it's Rosskopf's fault, Rosskopf should have went for Ovtcharov as the no.1 player, Timo as the no.2 just to surprise China. Ovtcharov-Zhang Jike and Timo Boll-Ma Long would have been a much better matchup for Germany (in terms of playing style). Ovtcharov has never won against Ma...
  3. Can China Go Without Dropping a Match in the World Team Competition

Germany got the worst line-up they could wish for, they should have put Ovtcharov as the 1st player ahead of Boll to catch ZJK and Boll can then catch Ma Long. Now it's going to be all over pretty soon. They are indeed going to win without losing a single match, and also Ma Long has not even...
  4. World Team Championships 2012

omg Li Xiaoxia lost against Tie Yana! What a shock defeat!
  5. Is the german ITTV commentator right about Patrick Baum?

Suss is much better than either of them, especially against the Chinese. He nearly won against Zhang Jike in 2010, having won the 1st game and leading 3 points in the 2nd . I can't believe Rosskopf is benching him.
  6. Best Cho Ever?

The true shrieker and the best Cho....
  7. World Team Championships 2012

I think WTTTC should incorporate doubles to reduce China's superiority because China is less dominating in the Men's Doubles than in the Men's Singles....
  8. crazy formations that may shock China

Germany: 1. Ovtcharov 2. Timo Boll 3. Christian Suss Reasons: Ovtcharov actually has a good chance against Wang Hao and Zhang Jike which China is probably going to field. He won 2 sets against ZJK in 2010 World Cup, 3 sets in the 2011 World Cup, and defeated Wang Hao at the World Cup Team...
  9. Which Table Tennis Player Inspires your Style of play?

I love ZJK's technique and he inspired me with his playing style. So powerful and yet so much control and stability! I especially love the way he control blocks his opponents to their demise (Even Wang Hao struggled to blast balls past him and made lots of mistakes attacking). I also like his...
  10. Which Table Tennis Player Inspires your Style of play?

I think Timo's FH is his asset, nobody else except for Ma Lin/ZJK has enough control to counterloop that close to the table. I think his FH is very strong, and he doesn't lose a lot of points when he opens up with his FH. However, he does focus more on speed(I mean recovery and reaction time)...
  11. Players You Dislike

I don't like Zhang Jike until he's a bit less arrogant and learns how to respect his teammates. I also don't like Ma Lin because he doesn't play very fair, often delaying points excessively, and always arguing over edge balls even though when it's clearly not in his favour. I also don't like...
  12. Whos your favourite player currently, and a why?

I absolutely love to see Ma Long and Xu Xin play, because of their athleticism, dynamic play and unbelievably high difficulty shots that they make on a regular basis. For past matches, I love seeing Waldner and Kong Linghui, Waldner because of his tactics, spectacular touch, and his deceptive...
  13. Whats your ranking?

I don't play for ratings, I play just because it is such a joy to learn new techniques, to improve, to hit unbelievable shots, to devise cunning strategies, and of course to make good friends! What are ratings compared to these? :p
  14. Improving Service

I use a similar hook serve with a lot of backspin on it, and most of the time people think it's sidespin/topspin, when in fact it is heavy side-unders. I think with serves, you need to go "against" the crowd in order to have success. Most of my hook serves are heavy side-under, but most of my...
  15. mild injury

I don't need knee guards nowadays, and the pain has pretty much disappeared, but the joints still crack! Should I continue resting or should I resume strength training?
  16. Novak Djokovic and Zhang Jike

hahahahahahahahaha finally someone made a video comparison.... they are so alike!
  17. SL-OPEN : Why Ma-Long couldn't make it through??? :(

LOL, Ma Long + Liu Shiwen against Zhang Jike + Ding Ning.... If these 2 play mixed doubles together it'll be really fun to watch!
  18. What serve/service do you use?

I spend half an hour once every 2 days just on serves. I also use a string and try to serve through the gap between the net and the string. To make it more interesting, I put a bat and targets around the table and try to hit those targets.
  19. How to serve backspin and nospin

My method of serving underspin/no-spin is different to all the methods shown above, it's a bit complicated, but it's smooth and pretty deceptive. The idea was copied from Hao Shuai. Basically when serving heavy underspin, you brush the bottom of the ball with a thin brush, then take it...
  20. Slow Motion Services (NEW)

Yours look more like Schlager's serve haha. Big smooth fast motion, i can see that it is really really spinny. Do you have any tips in practising the reverse serve? I can't seem to get the contact right....
