I know that the Olympics is the most important but that’s no reason for losing other matches. Also, as Tony stated above, there are MD and WD in teams events.

They always organise simulation events for WTTC and of course Olympics. Probably the Marvellous 12 was the last very known one but that was mainly singles. You can find a bunch on yt for Durban or for the ongoing Asian games, for example Ma Long WQC vs FZD LGY, etc…

Surely it’s less important but they always organise simulation matches and tournaments so it must also be important. Even Asian games which are held every 4 years are sorta important. They wouldn’t send doubles pairs who weren’t likely to win or at least reach the finals.
