  1. Evolution MX-P

Review by 'Baal' on item 'Evolution MX-P'

I think most of what needs to be said has already been written below by other people, and I agree with it. I should add, though, that it is pretty easy to make a switch to this rubber from T05. Let's say 4-5 sessions of adjustment, and then you can pretty much do what you used to do with T05...
  2. USA Table Tennis

Another good thing is more clubs that can produce players like Kanak Jha.
  3. USA Table Tennis

In the US too many other choices for things to do and not much tradition in the sport. Not much in the way of local amateur sports clubs like in Germany. But there are reasons now to hope for better. I think sTony is right about schools.
  4. Wang Jianjun vs Per gerell no handshake?

I am guessing it wasn't the serves.
  5. Forehand and backhand grips

If you switch your grip noticeably, a round ST handle makes it a lot easier and it feels more natural. My feeling is if you can get away with less grip change it is better. I think I change my grip less with ST.
  6. Is over celebrating a problem in table tennis?

I think excessive choing should be treated exactly the same way as someone swearing while they play (something I sometimes do when I badly misplay a ball, but only in practice). As for the 12 year old, if he suddenly shouted "motherf444" someone would definitely make sure it didn't happen...
  7. Leaked players equipment from European Championships 2016

I'm not sure it makes all that much difference after a few sessions to adjust. I like that MX-P is slightly harder and I am appreciating the slight boost in speed with plastic balls. T05 lasts longer for sure. If price comes back down I might switch back. I played T05 almost from the time it...
  8. Blade Lacquering, i haven't done this ,should i and why?

Polyurethane can definitely change how a blade plays.
  9. Evolution rubbers and Tenergy 05

I'm not much of an EJ. So these are only two I've played with enough to be confident about. EL-P to lesser extent. But Evolution can be bought for ok price from TT11
  10. Leaked players equipment from European Championships 2016

I agree. I am a big proponent of the idea that handle shape matters. I disagree with Carl about MX-P. I think on my blades it's just as good as T05. I would not have switched if I got T05 for free though. And you are right about top. players being conservative. They have good reasons to...
  11. Leaked players equipment from European Championships 2016

Btfly not surprisingly has the worst sponsorship agreements of any of the major brands from the players' perspective. So you can be pretty sure that the players with Btfly handles have not switched handles, since they would probably have a better deal if they used some other manufacturer's...
  12. Evolution rubbers and Tenergy 05

I have never tried EL-S (or any of the "S" versions). I can say that I am able to easily transition between T05 and MX-P. It takes a few sessions of playing, at most 4 or 5, and then I am perfectly comfortable. MX-P is harder, and as you say, a touch faster, but my experience is after that...
  13. great prices at Pro tt are they legit?

I suppose it depends on where he gets particular shipments. It could be from more than one source. At a point a lot of us here were buying clothes from him. That was a couple years ago and it was hit or miss on sizing ( they would sometimes run small even accounting for Asian sizing). I have...
  14. great prices at Pro tt are they legit?

Its not just that. I know about Asian sizes. Their sizes are inconsistent. So, be warned if you buy apparel from them.
  15. Blade Lacquering, i haven't done this ,should i and why?

A lot of TT blade coats sold by Joola, Donic, Revolution, etc. are actually water soluble lacquers.
  16. Dwell time

I have another crazy theory based on coaching I have been getting lately, and also watching. This theory is that feel is vastly overrated. I will have to write it carefully and figure out how to put it into words. Key word of course is "theory".
  17. Dwell time

I had forgotten about Hedgehog but he wrote great posts. The reason I brought up head size is it could help answer what it is we feel on shots. The confounding thing from a physiology perspective comes from proprioception which I personally think is our most important source of "feel" in TT...
  18. Blade Lacquering, i haven't done this ,should i and why?

A trick I have used to protect blades that won't change how a blade plays is to spray the wood with old fashioned hair spray and let it dry just before gluing rubber. Think of "church lady" hair spray, the kind that makes hair glue up hard like a rock. Whether you need to do any of this depends...
  19. Dwell time

I am curious if a change in head size would affect that feeling we have of dwell (which may or may not be related to the actual dwell)? Because all things being equal, a smaller racket should flex and vibrate differently after impact with the ball. I am not a mechanical engineer, but shouldn't...
