  1. Stiga Mantra - possibly the best priced tensor

I agree about arrogance/rudeness of style, and would not trust a $20 Mantra offer either.
  2. T2 Diamond 2019 | Malaysia

They actually did, using tiebreaks in deciding sets to replace the in principe inlimited gameplay until a two game difference is reached.
  3. Daily Table Tennis Chit Chat

Fool you once, shame on Stiga; fool you twice, shame on you? Anyway, the Stiga blades I played with 40 years ago were, in my dirty unreliabke memory, outstanding in feeling, balance, finish. The finishing quality of the newer Stigas I played for a while when returning was lesser. I didn’t...
  4. Stiga Mantra - possibly the best priced tensor

I believe, and I may be wrong, that OP tried to indicate a type of rubbers, used the generic ‘tensor’ to indicate that category, and got criticized for that. Understandable, yet when selecting rubbers in a webshop you might see a ‘tensor’ checkmark, making it possible to (de)select rubbers...
  5. T2 Diamond 2019 | Malaysia

Well, there is a difference. The Wimbledon final (at least the men’s) will probably be aired, and if it’s long the programmes it runs into be damned. The other matches may get a few minutes high over in a fixed few minutes time slot. If and when TT ever crosses that magical barrier where the...
  6. T2 Diamond 2019 | Malaysia

And all I here is blah blah nation blah blah nation blah talk. Apparently arbitrary lines on the map matter to some.
  7. Chinese or Japanese/European Forehand Rubber?

A lot has been said. I see decent strokes, and that switch from H3 and T05 is remarkably glitchless. Short footage, but my impression is that the shot quality in the first part is higher. There's room for improvement visible in recovery to basic/neutral position; it doesn't always follow...
  8. T2 Diamond 2019 | Malaysia

Spot on. Hastiness is the enemy of soundness. This, and SYS and WMY, retire already!
  9. Thoughts on JOOLA Infinity Robot

A rebranded iPong robot with an IOS app (and personal training sequences, etc.) sounds just fine with me. Looks interesting enough for a pledge, so I did just that that. Go https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/joola/joola-infinity?ref=thanks-copy, now at about 10% with about 4 weeks to go... :-)
  10. T2 Diamond 2019 | Malaysia

That’s Jill Parker, a formidable defender in her time (although she was called Jill Hammersley then). She has a keen eye and things to say, but doesn’t get enough words in for any form of sensible analysis/commentary.
  11. T2 Diamond 2019 | Malaysia

And in the breaks we hear Adam Bobrow over the PA, and next to John Burgess sits Jill Parker who does know quite a bit about TT but rarely gets to put in a word. These things I find a bit strange, but then again, many things are. Such as ML’s BH passivity, or LGY’s placement patterns. In these...
  12. T2 Diamond 2019 | Malaysia

Yes, ML really had a hard time keeping his composure. He did, though, eventually, although I personally expected a compliment or two in LYJ’s direction. Earned, great rallies.
  13. Bernadette Szocs playing with the NEW PINK RUBBER!

Btw, I know the background of the ‘two colour’ rule. I was around when the sub-top player John Hilton surprised the entire field by playing the (then new) super anti together with tackiness d (iirc), both in black. Twiddling merrily, grunting and stomping feet at ball impact. There’s footage...
  14. Bernadette Szocs playing with the NEW PINK RUBBER!

Not buying that argument. At least, it does not outweigh the detrimental effect of not being able to use the same rubber on both wings. As yogi remarked, effect of dye on playing characteristics might matter. I’ve witnessed this in some rubbers. Red Sriver and black Sriver are slightly...
  15. Bernadette Szocs playing with the NEW PINK RUBBER!

Yes, that’s more or less the gist of it. And I think it silly that you’re still not allowed to use the very same rubber on both wings. Discernability is no excuse there.
  16. Stiga Mantra - possibly the best priced tensor

Yes, and if it’s not done by a machine designed in Palo Alto it’s not a xerox. If it’s not Swiss-made by Bayer it’s not aspirin. All true, and all beside the colloquial point.
  17. Thoughts on JOOLA Infinity Robot

    Interesting. Any links to share?
  18. Bernadette Szocs playing with the NEW PINK RUBBER!

Hm, dat Pincnics seems to play very well.
  19. T2 Diamond 2019 | Malaysia

Yellow on white (tapatalk background) is illegible, lightgreen not much less so, and neither tapatalk nor a plain site view supports modifiable themes. Just so you know.
  20. Stiga Mantra - possibly the best priced tensor

The word ‘tensor’ is probably a marketing term of a particular brand. But I concur, this term is broadly used to describe all rubbers designed to deliver a speedglue-ish behaviour, following the speedglue ban.
