  1. ITTF WTTTC Finals London 2026, 4/28-5/10

Germany outsmarted themselves yesterday. If they had not assumed uncritically that France was going to play Gauzy at 3, they would have come up with the right lineup.
  2. ITTF WTTTC Finals London 2026, 4/28-5/10

It's really Fan Zhendong's fault. If he was still around, Lin would be the #3 he was supposed to be at this point in his career. Liang and Lin can still turn it around. I think people are underestimating what is possible. It is just nos as easy as it used to be.
  3. ITTF WTTTC Finals London 2026, 4/28-5/10

Will it make a difference? Korea is too strong. But at this point, China just has to focus on the next round. Too many landmines for their draw to make a huge difference. Other than maybe Germany, all the other countries that can beat them are going to pound Lin Shidong and Liang Jingkun...
  4. ITTF WTTTC Finals London 2026, 4/28-5/10

No offense taken, you have to know some of these players and how they think to have a better appreciation of what you are watching. They are just as human as we are, the gap is not always as numbers would lead you to believe.
  5. ITTF WTTTC Finals London 2026, 4/28-5/10

They probably won't have a choice. They likely just fear for visibility into the financial and operations.
  6. ITTF WTTTC Finals London 2026, 4/28-5/10

It is really interesting when peolle don't know a player's name that they assume he is a random. Calling Ranefur a random would be like calling Xu Yingbin a random. The main reason you don't know him is because he plays for Sweden and the country already has 4 strong players and he is now #5...
  7. ITTF WTTTC Finals London 2026, 4/28-5/10

Well given how broke WTT is, we need to welcome such things lol...
  8. ITTF WTTTC Finals London 2026, 4/28-5/10

I guess Japan wanted to give Hashimoto a real test by putting her out against Sabine. Now everyone has played and rhey can focus on their top 3.
  9. ITTF WTTTC Finals London 2026, 4/28-5/10

The tournament format is not what you think it is.
  10. ITTF WTTTC Finals London 2026, 4/28-5/10

I wonder whether Truls should not just let Liang win without trying hard so that Liang doesnt reactivate. It is like the effort he is playing with is bringing back Liang's level on sone points. But the speed of movement to find and recover from the forehand is just not there. But if any match...
  11. ITTF WTTTC Finals London 2026, 4/28-5/10

Aren't you being a bit premature, my friend lol....
  12. ITTF WTTTC Finals London 2026, 4/28-5/10

Okay. I think others can judge given Inmade the same comment to another poater who made a similar point to yours. You can have the final word if you need it. I want this thread to stay focused on the tournament. Than you.
  13. ITTF WTTTC Finals London 2026, 4/28-5/10

No. I am not in the mood because the question itself displays a refusal to just do modest investigation into the details and given your posting history, sometimes I can't discuss such things sometimes with you in good faith. You know the issue yet you are asking as if I made some point that...
  14. ITTF WTTTC Finals London 2026, 4/28-5/10

BtW for anyone interested, Ranefur has a good youtube channel on his approach to training etc. He is a very deep thinker about table tennis and you can see why his game is giving Lin fits when you watch it.
  15. ITTF WTTTC Finals London 2026, 4/28-5/10

They clearly do, they just decided to put Moregardh at 3 I suspect to guarantee the one point. May not come to that with how Ranefur is playing.
  16. ITTF WTTTC Finals London 2026, 4/28-5/10

The power of the Japanese TV table tennis lobby.
  17. ITTF WTTTC Finals London 2026, 4/28-5/10

Sorry it is not something I am in the mood to discuss seriously. You can watch the match Wang vs Kallberg and see what Kallberg got faulted for. The point is visibility even when the ball is in the air. It should never at any point be obstructed by the body. This is baked into the rules, if...
  18. ITTF WTTTC Finals London 2026, 4/28-5/10

Thr ball passes behind the head for Kallberg, the referee calls it. It does for Wang, silence. Enforcement is trash.
  19. ITTF WTTTC Finals London 2026, 4/28-5/10

That toss with 100% certainty passed behind the head or body at some point. Visibility at contact is not the rule.
  20. ITTF WTTTC Finals London 2026, 4/28-5/10

The rules are not about seeing the ball. I am not sure where this interpretation comes from. The rules are about the ball being visible throughout the serve motion and uncontroversially so.
