Thanks for these videos. What does your coach tell you about the power shots which he counters when you are off balance doing them for winners? Always nice to hear what a high level player has to say about such things.

So the post dingyibvs made about Fang Bo describing how equipment was selected to enhance strengths made an impression on me. I thought about it and said, what is my strength these days and it is consistent heavy topspin, not necessarily fast and powerful, but consistent. So getting a fast...

Congrats, Miyu! Awesome final!

Totally made up for last year. Very happy for him.

Hey, I will be the first to remind everyone who thinks Gauzy should play over Alexis for Olympics singles that Alexis is the better player with the higher ceiling. But he needs to improve his risk taking and shot selection sometimes. In this case though, he was playing a better player so it...

They gave Alexis one game to show them that he had something new. After that, they deployed the usual low risk let him hang him himself tactics that have worked against him on the past and which worked pretty well once again. There is a general reason Lebrun plays well against Asians and fast...

Wang Yidi manages to lose XD, WD and WS all at one event. A notorious triple but a triple that it is better to have achieved than to never have been there at all. If Chen is retiring soon from CNT, a great way to go out.

Chen Yi as a power player is truly next level. Hopefully her height won't make it too hard to master the whole game.

https://www.ittf.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/05/2024_19_OLYMPICS_XD.html Korea has been #2 on the Olympic list for a while now. This might have narrowed the gap had Team Japan won but it was already an uphill battle. And I agree that having thr male as the lefty likely is more potent but we...

Not sure who they were displacing as Korea were already #2 in the ITTF Olympic list already.

The sweep of Hayata and Harimoto by Lim and Shin seems to have passed without comment.

If Hugo beats An tomorrow, he becomes the #4 seed at the Olympics and is guaranteed not to meet a Chinese player until the semis unless something changes that at the next event in China.

It will be interesting to see what happens if Cho Daesong gets the spot. Limits their singles options.

Is the spot a coaches' selection or a ranking race?

BTW, did anyone see the great match point between the two men's doubles teams from France?

Hashimoto gets a game off Hayata - impressive.

Hurricane Hirano comes back from 2-5 down in the 5th to win 11-7 after the change of ends. Well done!

Hirano just saved 4 or 5 match points against Xunyao Shi. They go into the decider!

But we (and they) know it was a choice. They could have actually gone to Taiyuan, but they weighed other things as well.
