  1. World Tour Grand Finals 2017

Since you are a Ma Long friends and family member I am sure this post is your obligation. Dima has beaten every player he has played this year. He cannot apologize for not beating players who are injured or not playing or who are protesting or players who are not playing the events he is...
  2. World Tour Grand Finals 2017

    Isn't it painfully obvious?
  3. World Tour Grand Finals 2017

I love this post. It is important to keep this perspective. When Ma Long was #1 before 2012, many Chinese legends felt so what, he wasn't the best player and that Wang Hao was better because he had no majors. Dima has won one of 2 majors played this year, most of the top tournaments and still...
  4. Tips driving against short pips

This is misleading. The most important thing is to practice against the pips and to get a better idea of what kinds of balls are generated in response to your incoming shots by reading your misses. The game is too fast for intellectual understanding to suffice and the level of this player is...
  5. More power/speed from LIGHTER or HEAVIER blade?

I personally play better and hit faster shots with a lighter blade. Where a heavier blade helps for me is actually in blocking and decelerating the ball. I also think that there is a feeling of solidity and dwell that comes from using a heavier blade. But my swing speed and ball quality in...
  6. Evolution MX-S

5 out of 5 rating for Evolution MX-S I have played on and off with this rubber over the last 3 years. Every time I have used it, I have used it on both sides of my blade and used 1.9-2.0mm instead of MaxMax as this brought the weight closer to a sheet of Tenergy 05 2.1mm and increased my...
  7. Did Timo Boll deserve star player award?

Think about the player who thrilled you the most with his matches this year. I mean who is the answer if not Timo Boll or Ma Long? Timo is just being modest as always....
  8. Daily Table Tennis Chit Chat

The incompleteness is what counted not the doubles. But it wasn't fully evaluated. And it still came after the aforementioned videos. I think the place in the standings is correct.
  9. Daily Table Tennis Chit Chat

Okay. My current rankings are as follows: 1. Confiscate 2. JeffM (not clearly a club match unless the club has only 2 members). 3. ttmonster, (doubles, not fully evaluated) 4. OSP (no match, but at least practiced in the club) 5. MichalZ (not a club match but a match) 6. suds79 (entry posted a...
  10. Evolution MX-S

Review by 'NextLevel' on item 'Evolution MX-S'

I have played on and off with this rubber over the last 3 years. Every time I have used it, I have used it on both sides of my blade and used 1.9-2.0mm instead of MaxMax as this brought the weight closer to a sheet of Tenergy 05 2.1mm and increased my feeling for the rubber. I recommend this...
  11. Daily Table Tennis Chit Chat

Will carefully evaluate at home tonight, send me your address by PM and your choice of blade if you think you made it.
  12. Daily Table Tennis Chit Chat

That would be too easy would it not? We want something more recent - thanks :D.
  13. difference between Carbon

That's possible but I wouldn't be surprised if the Vp index or the Vp/Vi both satisfactorily addressed that as it simply is not true that 5 ply all wood blades absolutely have more feel and vibration than Viscaria style ALC blades. The Mazunov is a notoriously stiff 5 ply as an example even...
  14. difference between Carbon

I don't know whether it is a major limit unless it influences something that is highly correlated with how TT players feel about their equipment and that this thing it is highly correlated it influences selection. What you are looking at may well be contained in other indices that ttgearlab...
  15. Uh oh, backhand rubber advice time

It's a harder sponge so you have to work a little harder to make it work with fuller and writer swings. It is also not quite as linear as Karis M. It's also heavier so that dampens some people's enthusiasm. But since I play with more spin than power it helps the way I play.
  16. Uh oh, backhand rubber advice time

The first generation of ESN rubbers to compete with Tenergy were similar in many ways. They include Rakza 7 and Vega Pro, but more people think directly of the yellow sponges Germany distributed variants like Andro Hexer, Tibhar Genius, Donic Baracuda and Joola Xplode.
  17. difference between Carbon

Okay. I have times when I agree with what you are saying and there are other times when I just say it is not as critical as you think it is. Not everyone gets the same feedback out of their equipment or coaching.
  18. difference between Carbon

I agree, but I would argue that the main tone does tell you a lot, though the analysis at ttgearlab did help me see that it is limited.
  19. Uh oh, backhand rubber advice time

For something that performs like Vega Pro but is more reliable - Tibhar Genius. If I didn't like to loop/hit topspin hard close to the table, this would be the ideal. For entirely different animals with linear control, pushing blocking and great brushing spin but harder to obtain driving spin...
  20. difference between Carbon

But it might not be - the point is that as long as someone is not using a rocket launcher, let him use whatever he wants. ALC blades are usually very reasonable blades compared to all wood. The HL5 actually has a vibration frequency very close to OFF- when I tested it.
