  1. Daily Table Tennis Chit Chat

Looped for an hour yesterday but failed to record it for some reason - was working in keeping the ball low and wanted Brett to see whether my concept for a low spinny loop vs block or topspin was correct. Will have to try again today.
  2. My practice of short underspin serves!

The hand motion is not quite right - the forward swing is decent but the backswing is wrong and starts too early. Google "Backspin Serve Brett Clarke" and "Advanced Serve Mechanics Brett Clarke" to understand what your hand should be doino. I will post the videos here if I get a chance to do...
  3. Question about Shakehand variations

He has some good ideas, and I used to reference the video, but as I understood table tennis better and worked with more experienced players and coaches, I came to form my own views which are not quite the same as his.
  4. Question about Shakehand variations

IT's good practice to refer to your sources. Otherwise, you might get expelled for rampant plagiarism in college.
  5. My version of Jun Mizutani serves

Not sure about the U14 Polish national team thing looking at the quality of his strokes or that such a player would play till 21 in the modern era of 11 pt games but it's okay. The use of the arm is a little better, but there is probably still too much shoulder/upper arm involved to have a...
  6. jun mitzutani playing for Donic now?

I think so. I also thinks it makes their club training better as having those three players together makes it easier for them to think about the Chinese as the true opposition. So it is give and take, so to speak.
  7. Question about Shakehand variations

I've never see any video of him online playing in his prime. So I was just curious what you were remembering correctly and what context you came across him in (which you haven't provided, BTW).

  9. Question about Shakehand variations

How can you be recalling this? Please tell me how you knew of Musa before Carl wrote about him. Please. There is nothing wrong with using Google to look up stuff, but it's hard to recall players whose prime was before you were born.
  10. jun mitzutani playing for Donic now?

Ovtcharov happy that he doesn't have to lose to Mizutani anymore in the league.
  11. Question about Shakehand variations

Probably still the most famous table tennis player Nigeria produced.
  12. My Ace Serve practice collection with some good music

OR you hit the ball with the back of your racket for a surprise fast backhand topspin serve that the opponent misses out of sheer surprise. I have a video of a match where Adam Hugh did this.
  13. Question about Shakehand variations

You should. You really should. Archo is learning from all of us in his own special way.
  14. Question about Shakehand variations

DerEchte, I made a video for Shuki that makes the same point you are making. When learning the basic strokes, coaches recommend you use a neutral grip so that you are not too slow to play any strokes or your game doesn't suffer from slow transitions. Using a very biased grip will make you want...
  15. Korea Open 2016

It was for Chien Chen An (his blade is called the Chien Chen An Unlimited). He played pretty well and deserved at least a game, but when you don't play Ma Long often, his game is extremely tricky. I think his forehand sometimes doesn't let people see how tricky and all round Ma Long's game...
  16. Korea Open 2016

I disagree. This reminds me of Ma Long in 2011. It took something like missing the Olympics to realize that something had to change. XX here is no different. He had been stubbornly refusing to use his backhand as his coach had instructed him to for a while now. So with nothing on the line...
  17. Korea Open 2016

This is best tournament in recent times. And it seems everybody is falling.
  18. Korea Open 2016

Mr Long vs Mr Unlimited - bring it on!
  19. Korea Open 2016

I suspect they brought Wu Yang along for matches like this given that there were 4 choppers in the draw.
