  1. Daily Table Tennis Chit Chat

I am switching to a 4 days a week schedule excluding coaching days. Coaching days will be exclusively for coaching with no training. Yesterday was league night but I was not in the mood to drive an hour. So I went to my regular club. I was also committed to Eternity VPS V + Hexer but I...

I agree the SPW is head heavy. Some people can't use the blade for that reason and some people use a lighter rubber on backhand. I used Hexer but I also have a head heavy training blade that I have glued 3 sheets of rubber to on each side. Ever since I started using that for shadow strokes...

It happens to everyone until you get used to that level. Don't give it any mind. On the match video clip you shared of your best pointment, I noticed some non-standard fOrmond and technique which you could probably refine. Learning standard technique and using it all the time till you can...
  4. Korea Open 2016

Flore beat Xu Hui in the Champions league recently. That match was an eye opener on the quality of his game. The French are making massive jumps.
  5. Korea Open 2016

Timo can beat all those people in proper form. I know you are German, but I don't think you appreciate how good Boll really is and how upsetting his game is to people who have never played him.

    You are overthinking this.
  7. Is over celebrating a problem in table tennis?

It is more likely his training. I have heard some Asian coaches fine or chastise star players for not choing.
  8. Tennis elbow

Usually, tennis elbow is caused my a muscle getting tight and pulling really hard on a tendon. If you massage the muscle and tendon really hard, they can loopen up like and become free. I have had tennis elbow many times and it has never stopped me from plaging after a massage of the joints...

Not so sure about the pushing, but I guess it all depends on the level of player and the spin that you had incoming to begin with.
  10. Daily Table Tennis Chit Chat

It all depends on whether the player is attacking with the pips or anti. I haven't seen you play but I will credit you with being at a level that if the player just blocks with anything, over time, you will figure it out, and that you are usually the first aggressor. But when the player gets...
  11. Question about reflexes

The one thing I will add is that in actual matches, the quality of the ball you hit and the level of your opponent often determine your ability to anticipate. If you hit a weak ball, it is much harder to tell where your opponent is going to hit it next as he has more options with time and...
  12. Daily Table Tennis Chit Chat

The most important thing is to realize that the ball is not topspin and you can't spin over it. You have to block with an open racket and hit/spin with a relatively open racket. My opponent in the above video uses worn inverted to play a short pips game and you can see that if I just block his...
  13. new human conflict situation

Depends on the coach and culture. You are not in the same country or state as Nuke.
  14. Is over celebrating a problem in table tennis?

That's what some people are missing. Touch downs in foot ball are not trivial. Neither are clutch plays or points in basketball. But celebrating every point as loudly as Tomo does is just bad manners.
  15. Daily Table Tennis Chit Chat

I played a tournament that put me back in EJ hell. I beat two players above me and lost to one below - went 3-5 in a Giant RR as the #7 seed. The one below me was the most painful as I had lost a 5 setter to him during another tournament which was just a bad day. As for my best win, it was...
  16. How critical is an over-sized blade for defending/chopping?

IT's not as critical as you might think - I know a chopper/defender who used an extremely small blade head size because he liked to serve very heavy spins.

So I hit again on Thurday and Friday night (no video) to review a couple of things. I am realizing a few things about aggressive stroke timing and controlling the height of my loops. On Thursday, I mostly wanted to test the Eternity VPS. I came away pretty impressed by the blade. I want to...
  18. Daily Table Tennis Chit Chat

Usually, I tell the person that I need to warm up, but if I am warmed up, I just start a match like drill or play a match. There is no reason to get worked up about it as not everyone who plays well or even decently has warm-up etiquette taught to them. If you need to warm up, it is one thing...

  20. My original pendulum serve developement

I think this highlights Siva's handspeed really well. I wonder what Brett will say. I still have not been able to serve a snake serve that fits my RP motion (which is not the same as Siva) and which doesn't disgust Master Snake yet. Most of my efforts have been lizard serves.
