Having read this, I looked at the LJK vs Xu Fei match. Xu Fei's serve action at about 7:00 was ridiculously bad. It didn't take a strict adherence to the rule to fault that one. However, the high angle camera does make it look worse.

This photo was a winner in its category, interesting. Overall Winner and Pangea Prize Recipient: 'Ping Pong Training' by Hardijanto Budiman Location: Jakarta, Indonesia Artist statement: Ping pong or table tennis is my favorite sport. When I was young I used to be a...

[Stereotype function on] Eh? - you must be Canadian [/Stereotype function off] To be more precise, I have met him a couple of times at his tournaments and we have communicated by email. Most of what I know about MOG is from what I see from his postings here on TTD and on facebook. Give me...

As I said before, match officials are volunteers. They are not paid. Yes their expenses are covered if they come from far. In fact, the umpires pay their own fares when traveling to international tournaments. ITTF only takes over when they have landed in the country.

Match officials in any sport at times get a lot of flack deservedly or not. In TT, sure, youngsters will say and do all sorts of things not nice to those in authority. Same thing in schools and how pupils think of their teachers. But it is all part of growing up and becoming more mature.

Unfortunately, the high number of old umpires is a fact of life as basically younger people don't want the hassle (plus don't have the time) of performing any role of TT official. Also umpires are volunteers. Volunteers are fairly rare in any part of life and they usually end up in at least...

Genuine question, what is your experience that causes you to come to that conclusion? My experience here in the UK is that players are very happy when there's an official umpire at their table.

Also, all players use the chicken wing style when the ball is fast into or near their body

Maybe not, overall, but it does help many players and coaches to better understand what's happening. Besides, TT is known for the significant amount of Nerds that are fans. A bit like F1 motorsport.

What amazes me is the very low viewer count. American posters on here, you need to cover your eyes as notice that it is the players who also umpire. Yes I know, terrible situation to put a player isn't it.

I am a gullible fanboy of Butterfly products....and Darker......and Stiga This thread just shows how much the nuances of language are not easily or correctly understood in an international setting. I never for a second thought that the headline was insulting as I understood the context...

Come on, MOG. You know that you want it don't you:cool:. Also order the new R40 balls with your purchase. Might as well go all the way:D

I'll try them once we get back to training. But I shiver at the price. Here in UK they are £3.00 each before shipping costs are added. At that price I'll make sure do a spin test before use and ask for a refund for the imperfect ones.

Football I can't remember which Swedish coach I read/heard use that term first, "Always remember, football! That is, footwork then play the ball"

No. The topsheet looked ok. That's why it took me a while to figure out that the rubber was damaged and that I wasn't simply playing badly.

Victas Liam Pitchford The selling price is 179euros but spinfactory.de has them for 169euros I might just buy one out of sentimentality to display in my TT cabinet;) https://www.spinfactory.de/hoelzer/liam-pitchford.html...

The colours in the photo are not correct The colours in the photo are not correct as I played with the settings in post to better show the detail. I estimate that this D05 has between 100-120 hrs of table time. About 30hrs of which were on the robot. Plus I've switched it between blades twice...

Still trying justify buying a TT rubber that costs more than my car tyre You guys are making it very difficult for me not to buy D09C. For example: Magic_M; “When I tried out the D09C, it was a pleasure from the first moment on” Ant man; “I find it more enjoyable to use the 09c” – vs...

Another rubber (Rakza Z) bites the dust From your description, you'll do away with the Rakza Z as soon as you get fully used to the D09C. I give you 1 year:)

I think that that that junior misinterpreted Mr Takashima or maybe he (the jnr) was not talking about the topspin drive or loop. If a player's drives or loops tend to hit the table deep on the opponent's side then coaches love that. It means he has less work to correct technique.
