  1. What is talent in table tennis?

From what I’ve seen in my limited coaching experience, talent develops at different ages for different people. A kid who doesn’t develop amazing hand-eye coordination at six years old cannot simply be said to lack talent, it’s far too early to tell. Discovering an individual’s talent ceiling...
  2. When should I back away from the table?

Already watched it, it was excellent. Never realized that how much difference pointing the foot out makes.
  3. Pongbot Nova S Pro owners' review and discussion thread

Hello I’m looking for a way to position the robot behind the table and at a lower height(superior trajectory IMO). At the moment, I’m using a chair with boxes of various sizes, but this solution is both a bit hacky and potentially dangerous for the robot due to the risk of it falling. Does...
  4. Concern about a new rubber

Had a similar experience with my LAC. They were getting a bit old and slow, so I thought, what the hell, why not try boosting them? Then they “lost” their ability to spin. TBH, I think I overboosted them and they just became too bouncy for my limited skill level. I suspect the lack of dwell...
  5. Concern about a new rubber

It is no longer glossy, that disappeared quickly, even though I took good care of it.
  6. Concern about a new rubber

My H3 Neo Provincial OS 39 degree has retained the tackiness for over four months now. I clean it after each practice and cover it with a protective plastic. It retains good performance so far and shows very little wear and tear. Did you maintain it properly?
  7. Different Hurricane results based on boosting procedure

Yes that is correct, the procedure only measures the amount applied to the entire sponge, not individual areas of the sponge. I agree that many other factors impact the result, but amount of booster applied is likely the most important. Applying the same amount should increase the probability...
  8. Wood grain orientation impacts on play?

I wonder how common it is for manufacturers to hide the bad sheets of veneer below the outmost layer? Maybe that is how the blade prices are determined. Expensive blade uses the best veneers and cheap blades uses the good veneers?
  9. Cheap Chinese Gear

What a great write up. I did a quick google AI search and it came up with this: Not sure how accurate this numbers are, I specifically asked it to check Chinas number and it was reduced to 10 million. Using only the 10 countries in the list that corresponds to ~90% of the total players in the...
  10. Different Hurricane results based on boosting procedure

If you weigh the bottle, including the brush attached to the lid, before and after applying a layer, the difference in weight is the amount of booster applied to the rubber. Most kitchen scales measure to the nearest 0.1 g, which should be accurate enough for this purpose. To be honest, I think...
  11. Different Hurricane results based on boosting procedure

The topsheet was not shiny after I performed the boosting procedure without using the foil. I did not test the tackiness before boosting because that would have required gluing the rubber to the blade beforehand. After boosting, the topsheet was able to hold the ball for a few seconds. It...
  12. DHS Hurricane 3 Neo: The Complete Amateur Guide & Review

Sorry, I meant digit code. Couldn't find any in the package. Just the vacuum sealed rubber.
  13. DHS Hurricane 3 Neo: The Complete Amateur Guide & Review

Not sure about Global Sports. Bought a couple H3 Provincial from them. Package did not contain any QR code.
  14. Form Check

I see rotation in the hip and rotation between shoulder and upper arm. Upper arm and lower arm(elbow joint) seems to maintain the same angle through out the stroke. Same with wrist. If this is considered correct form I do not know.
  15. Thoughts on the "cured" pimples. 🎉

The Dwarf Fortress type of FUN!? ;)
  16. DHS Hurricane 3 Neo: The Complete Amateur Guide & Review

The ambition level scales with the amount of booster you use ;)
  17. Is there amybody useing dna dragon power i want to get it but i am on the fence about it

That is excellent progress for one year of play. You are probably a better player than me, but I will theory craft anyway 😁. If you want STIGA, DNA Hybrid M if you want sticky rubber. Dna platinum M if you don't want sticky rubbers. Both are a step up in hardness.
  18. Is there amybody useing dna dragon power i want to get it but i am on the fence about it

I played about as much time as you and I switched to a hard rubber way to early. When I switched back softer rubbers my placement and consistency improved. It was also a lot easier to do exercises during training which leads to more ball hits per training session which will over time hopefully...
  19. How do you use AI in table tennis?

AI will make people more lazy for sure. In software development I can see that code output is higher and of better quality since the introduction of AI. I don't code anymore, I just tell the AI what to do and makes sure the output is good. Of course the better you are at software design the...
  20. New Stiga Mantra Pro

I bought Mantra Pro M because it was on sale and seemed like it would suit my playing style. However, after reading this thread, I'm starting to think I may be out of my depth. I'm still fairly new to the sport and currently use Xiom Vega Europe on my backhand. My main concern is that I might...
