@dingyibvs As crazy stupid as it sounds, Der_Echte as a near 60 yr old bear sized munchkin relied on athleticism too much. I have been doing essentially the same thing... had good capable technical shots, but was not in optimal position right away or ever and relied on athleticism to get close...
  2. San Francisco looking for training partner.

There is a huge absence of consulting Sergey Scoobie Doo, who is secretly USA's foremost expert on all matters of H3 boosting and usage.
  3. San Francisco looking for training partner.

Hi @Grumms , I share the same general attitude about equipment magically making one's game many levels better. (meaning an equipment change by itself normally would make not so much difference in most situations) I do believe though, that certain equipment makes it easier or more difficult to...
  4. San Francisco looking for training partner.

If you are able to get enough training time in... and get enough focused play time with the right level of players (and there are enough of them in your metro area) then I believe you could make a 2000 rating and even a consistent 2000 training level.
  5. San Francisco looking for training partner.

Peter, with so many years of the ABS ball, it has become much easier to attack spins and handle spins. Also many many many many, did I say MANY more kids are professionally trained in big time clubs and kept in a closed loop competing only against each other at ratings of 100 to 300... but they...

C'Mon man... looping underspin is the easiest thing to do in tt for attacking/opening. You just need sum leverage and a good whip/timing/biomechanics. Adjust on slow loop by opening bat or going up more... on power loop be sure to time ball soon after bounce on rise forward swing a little lift...
  7. Seeking Advice To Buy My First Combo

Being closer to center of mass of appropriate zone is what to be concerned about... ur N11 wood blade and Mercury rubbers are plenty near center for what is needed. No need to worry about what is exactly right as there is no such thing for this situation... kinda like the saying of no solutions...
  8. Post your latest EJ purchase

IDK... latest EJ purchase? Maybe a Peter Korbel blade 5 years ago...
  9. Aligning Hurricane 3 after re-boosting

Sergey the Tsos would know, maybe someone PM him to keep this a secret. @Jslick89 understands exactly what I'm sayin'. :D
  10. San Francisco looking for training partner.

I was at that ICC tourney in the first set of vids, I recognize one of my friends when went to only that tourney on only that date. I think I was a 1900 scrub player back then. (pun intended, but true) A gazillion things separate a 2000 from a 2200 level... A quick over simplification is...
  11. Table Tennis Crisis

LA is a tough area with so many 1500 to 1600 rated players who are really 2000 level. One might get 2000 in LA, but holding is tough until you break through. I made almost 2100 after 2019 LA Open... held it a couple years... then the parade of ringers... didn't help it that I went coaching...
  12. Felix Lebrun should play short pips on FH

10+ years ago in Korea, I tried Short Pips on my BH... tossed them away before the end of 5 minutes. Tried them again in 2024 on BH... WOW, I can use them. I guess over time I strike my with a more open bat... so using SP was easier.

I did NOT read that thread... but common TT sense says that those anywhere near the cusp or even 1000 miles away from becoming pro or elite amateur already know what is needed, so by that logic, the OP waz spamming or insane.
  14. Improvement vs temporary feeling?

Totally valid question. Also involves physics and sports phycology. Time and data will tell a story, as well as a seasoned player evaluating enough data. Improvements can be considered permanent as learning doesn't really fade, but there are physical and mental factors in play that affect...

This will depend on what shot you are trying to do. The drive, the power drive, the smash, the fast loop, and the loop kill all have big time firming of grip at impact and big sound from getting the ball into the wood. You have different degrees of open bat angle on these strikes. The...
  16. Daily Table Tennis Chit Chat

@netdriver , once you get the feel of how to firm up at impact and can do it consistently (you will still hear a loud wood sound from bat even at half power if you firm up at the right moment)... once you get that down, progressively use longer swing and more power as much as you can stay...
  17. Daily Table Tennis Chit Chat

How to practice firming up? You need to be loose and firm right at impact. Kinda hard to try to do practice that under pressure using big swings like you are in match doing points. I would say give it a try at being in a more controlled environment... ... do not go for huge swings... shorten...

NL said the quiet part out loud. Short arm short compact stroke, or long extended arm both require use of lower arm with upper arm slowing down somewhere before impact.
  19. Beast in ASC Grünwettersbach

I remember him, because he was big time member on PMB forum, and for a while, I talked about long pips play in GERMAN on his forum... and it had to be a riot being German and watching what I posted and how I said it in German that was obviously not from an echte Deutscher.
