Some internal comp today. Horrible performance. Losing 2-11 and then 8-11 to players I should probably be able to win against fairly easily. Every serve gave me exactly what I want and I still missed all of my 3rd balls and my knees gave away in every rally. Did some drills after and same thing...
  2. Loki RXTON 9 new sponge.

Looks like a sponge made by one of DHS's OEMs. At least the markings are the same. They're really great sponges, so it's positive in my book.
  3. Hit a wall with my BH on OSP Virtuoso Off- – Rubber recommendations or time to change blades?

Out of ones I've used: XIOM Europe DF, if you can't bottom this then there's nothing softer and you ought to just take the whole rubber off! Rozena Tibhar FX-S Tenergy 05FX From lower to higher performance. I found all of these uber easy to sink the ball with and FX-S and Tenergy have some...
  4. The Pro's Equipment - Discussion!

Blade and forehand rubber absolutely have to be DHS. Backhand is open.
  5. Post your latest EJ purchase

The one guy who is allowed to say he has a "mindset problem" and not a "skill issue". :ROFLMAO: Thanks.

Is the paper "Analysis of Players’ Table Tennis Skills and Strategies--Taking Ma Long as an Example" or some other one? Sorry for OT.

It's bad enough to be choking in important matches and struggling to get wins, but then you get used as an example in a research paper and kicked when you're down. 😭
  8. GLUE - Does the brand of glue i choose make a noticeable difference ?

Zero Degree No.2 definitely more liquid than DHS No.15 in the condensed 98ml tube, although I didn't know at the time it was condensed and I just put it on as-is. :ROFLMAO:

I think there's an actual real explanation for that beyond just "players are stupid and can't tell rubbers from eachother" which may be true in some ways but is a bit reductive. The last Commercial non-NEO sheet I bought measured like 43 hardness equivalent and had immense spin capabilities in...

FWIW FZD's contact point fore-aft wise is basically identical to all other top players. But he does get a bit lower relative to the ball than the standard technique. It seems to work really well if you're a bit stocky.

And people say equipment doesn't matter. Ordered a sheet of NEO H3 National blue sponge earlier. Forgot to also order the clown wig and facepaint that usually goes with it! If I ever buy the STAR Player versions, I'll need to get the honky horn as well. I know it's tremendously overkill...
  12. Daily Table Tennis Chit Chat

Yep, that's what I meant. A mixture of feelings and performance. Training today, nothing special. Did some blocking, some looping, some match scenario multi, some practice games. Performance a bit unstable today, but it is what it is. H8-80 on backhand does stand out when blocking; easy to...
  13. Hit a wall with my BH on OSP Virtuoso Off- – Rubber recommendations or time to change blades?

That's all well and good that you can hit the ball very well and suggest the OP does so as well (probably the best advice), but OP asked what kind of equipment change would give him more power in a specific kind of shot. He was talking about penetrating shots so I assumed he is sinking into the...
  14. Hit a wall with my BH on OSP Virtuoso Off- – Rubber recommendations or time to change blades?

OP shouldn't be surprised if he does this and his shots are even slower and need even more effort. Of course I could be wrong, I'm disagreeing with you after all, but I'm willing to bet a dollar on it.

His level is probably 500-600 rating above me, so I'm not saying we're similar. More-so that I was just able to attain a decent performance. He will lose 1 or 2 points a set from trying some crazy receive, and normally he would still win maybe 11-5, but today I was able to force him into a...
  16. Let's talk forehand topspin of these two pros

I've done a lot of frame-by-frame analysis of pro shots, and honestly most of the techniques are basically the same. It's just the semi-superfluous stuff like the off-hand, backswing and followthrough that differ, so they end up looking really different visually, but the contact is really...
  17. Daily Table Tennis Chit Chat

Lol, sure, but I mean in a literal way, it really does feel like they just took a H3 topsheet and a T05 sponge and slapped them together.
  18. Daily Table Tennis Chit Chat

Played a bit with an-ex District player from Vietnam. He said he never qualified for the City team because his city was extremely competitive, so I guess you could say his max level was around 2100 equiv. I think he's about 1800-1900 right now; rusty and not playing for some time, but some shots...
  19. What Are Hybrid Table Tennis Rubbers and Why Are They So Popular Nowadays?

Human kinesiology is unreliable as far as what is actually happening, but I think you're right giving it another think. IIRC an EPAR of 0.5 would mean that input speed = output speed, because half of the energy gets lost. So that would be linear. EPAR of 1.0 would mean that the ball flies out...
  20. What Are Hybrid Table Tennis Rubbers and Why Are They So Popular Nowadays?

Just a correction, but there's no rubber out there that can increase the energy of the shot. They can all only reduce it. Tensors are just much less damped and hysteretic and they reduce it much less, by about 0.2 to 0.3 CoR. They could increase the energy in the shot if they had some kind of...
