  1. How to know if my bh loop will hit the table?

@TensorBackhand See this video which shows the blade angle changes during the chiquita or the over the table BH loop. You can see how this closed to open transition helps to lift whatever backspin is on the ball together with the body and legs, and then you just followthrough forward clockwise...
  2. How to know if my bh loop will hit the table?

Yes it works against heavy under, just go around the side to avoid the strong spin axis.
  3. How to know if my bh loop will hit the table?

With half long or even short balls you are right that the table is in the way, hence there is no room to backswing except for this trick that chiquita players use (watch a lot of them). You can get more backswing room by closing the racket more during the backswing. You open the racket angle as...

With how much you like to slap the ball, i feel like double inverted is not gonna be your forte. The power of inverted is in the power of heavy topspin which cannot be generated with slap shots. I feel like your mentality is much more suited to SP hitting especially on FH. BH LP given how much...
  5. Attacking Long Pip Players like Ni Xia Lian and Zhou Xintong... but at the amateur level?!

Even better showcase of Kim Kum Yong creating absolute havoc for her opponents.
  6. Attacking Long Pip Players like Ni Xia Lian and Zhou Xintong... but at the amateur level?!

I have amateur penhold LP/inverted partners with wins over national team members lol. It is a ridiculously strong style imo if you treat the pips seriously and dont use it like a crutch like the lazy pushblockers, ie you have to be active with it, have excellent footwork, serves, FH loop, etc...
  7. Attacking Long Pip Players like Ni Xia Lian and Zhou Xintong... but at the amateur level?!

Most LP or anti players will chopblock against heavy topspin and not attempt the counter attack due to safety. It is easier to counter attack weaker balls, especially pushes. Pushes are the easiest to attack with LP/anti. Kim Kum Yong is probably the strongest LP player currently although she...

Haha there was no advice in my post. I struggled against that serve from lefties too esp if their sideunder and sidetop was really subtle. Even if I had an OK read of the spin it was really unfriendly to try to get an advantage receiving that particular lefty hook serve to the FH corner too. I...
  9. Attacking Long Pip Players like Ni Xia Lian and Zhou Xintong... but at the amateur level?!

Kojima plays a bit like Ba Yongbo who nearly took down Quadri Aruna recently (it went to 7 games). He really defends all the topspin attacks like a boss and then waits for the other player to give him a push to then punish it decisively with the LP attack. It would be really annoying to play...
  10. San Francisco looking for training partner.

Lol no... OP serve is quite basic tbh and doesnt have advanced deception other than leaving his free arm out to hide the ball aka cheating. some of the LP/inverted combo penholders circle have wins over national team players even as amateurs. OP or his friend will never get to that level in...
  11. San Francisco looking for training partner.

Lol so basically serve cheats are allowed to brag here too. Hilarious.
  12. San Francisco looking for training partner.

Nah, his FH is just bad. He obviously spent a lot of time trying to make his RPB good but this was at the expense of his FH training, and his RPB is still quite a bit worse than the shakehand BH especially in terms of stability. This is why I think that RPB is quite useless at the amateur...
  13. San Francisco looking for training partner.

The problem for the penholder is that his FH is too weak and error prone. There were so many floaters that he missed. If he had a real quality penhold FH attack, there would be no chance for OP to get back in the point. Penholders cannot afford to have bad FHs in general. Ffs my LP/inverted...
  14. San Francisco looking for training partner.

Both of your left arms moves so little that you two might as well just leave it there lol. Your serve is way more illegal than his, so yeah you're right, you have absolutely no right to bitch about it.
  15. Daily Table Tennis Chit Chat

Yeah, short to half long lefty hook serves to the FH is very difficult to receive (see Par Gerell, WCQ for e.g. or even before him, Sun Ting). Almost not possible to see the contact because they always hide it and it's the more difficult sidespin to loop with FH (you have to loop it more on the...
  16. San Francisco looking for training partner.

speak for yourself - count the percentage of mistakes and pop-ups you made when receiving illegal serves? Or how many mistakes/pop-up your partner made when receiving your illegal serves?
  17. San Francisco looking for training partner.

This is why anti/LP rubbers are so advantageous at amateur level, you can basically deal with these illegal serves easily which are just way too common (OP is not even the exception unfortunately). You can see that their left arms are intentionally left out for as long as possible, and the ball...
  18. The best way to play the drop shot off lobs - any experts for ultimate guide?

Yes you just rob momentum to the sides... no need for any fancy chopblock or topspin movement. If you master this, short pushing sidetopspin short serves is no big deal and this is a huge gamechanger at certain levels.
  19. The best way to play the drop shot off lobs - any experts for ultimate guide?

Do this training a lot. Once you did a lot you will unlock this skill. Side benefit is that your short push level will also significantly go up.
  20. LP 0.7mm or OX, which is easier to control?

i think the sponge allows for more possibilities of actively creating mechanical friction and changing up the spin. So ppl with good technique (at least from what I've seen) can selectively control how much they want to reverse the spin (or kill the spin completely).
