  1. Daily Table Tennis Chit Chat

Like OldSchoolPH, I use google translate when someone posts in a language I don't speak. I have to do it all the time for Spam that is in different languages. But without that, I would not be able to understand.

A wise old coach back in 2010 (named Richard Ling) once said to me: "The backhand is the shield and the Forehand is the sword." OldSchool, that is for you. And doesn't it sound like something Bruce Lee could have said? :)
  3. Stiff soft blade with low throw

If you want something a bit slower than Primorac Carbon, you might think about trying an all wood 7 ply Hinoki blade. The Darker 7p-2a.7t is quite fast for an all wood blade (about the same speed as TB ALC) but not as fast as the Primorac Carbon. It will have that Hinoki feel and because it is...
  4. Some of my today training footage

Yep. I agree. I wasn't going to say anything. But it is interesting how he did not ask for help and seemed to just be showing his standard of play. Not sure why comments on improving would be made if not asked for and if he clearly has access to coaching and training with decent level...
  5. Some of my today training footage

    Kicking it Old School. :)
  6. Some of my today training footage

Good to see these cross court drills and the arc on the ball. It is easy to see that you are spinning the ball well. It would be nice to see some match play or match simulation where you are playing as if playing a match without counting points (either would be informative). Seeing how you...
  7. The best way to Sealing/ Vanishing

You need a license for that minky! :)
  8. Looking for recommendations

You could upgrade the rubbers. You could get a different blade and transfer the rubbers onto the new blade. But one thing to know is, if the setup is a little slow, one of the positive aspects to that is that it makes you work a little harder to get a good quality ball that has power. This...
  9. WHO is gunna be at this weekend's 888 Teams Championships ??!!

I see photos of a Table Tennis Trouble Maker. :)
  10. EmRatThich says learn w/Max thickness, fast rubber?

I guess, an addition to what I said above: why do people think thicker sponge is faster? If you are spinning the ball, you can swing harder and apply more force to the ball while still maintaining the control to arc the ball onto the table. With something that does not allow you to generate as...
  11. EmRatThich says learn w/Max thickness, fast rubber?

I don't love ERT because most of what he presents is regurgitated from other sources and he does not give the sources or credit anyone. Also, information needs a context. How do you play? What are you trying to develop? If you are trying to flat hit winners, and not trying to develop the...

Definitely read what NextLevel said closely as well. He is talking about some important points that will be well worth sorting out. As far as the forward motion, with backspin, you would need to take the ball earlier and at the top or on the rise to be able to loop forward. If you don't...

I have to be honest, I think you should change the drill. Maybe move the table over to the FH side more so there is less space on FH side and more on BH side and have the ball directed towards the middle of the BH side. Taking the ball from that far over to the FH side with the BH is going to...
  14. Why does womans game focus on BH to BH exchanges?

That is the central issue. The speed at which the ball comes back on those shots from close to the table, off the bounce, while the ball is still rising, the setup for BH is much quicker, the stroke is much shorter, it has speed even if it lacks the power. The big looping rallies with the FH...
  15. Beginner equipment for my 8 year old daughter

Given that there are people responding to the OP and confused, I would say you probably should have started a new thread because, unfortunately, not many people will sort out that you are waking up a 3 year old thread to ask a similar question about a totally different kid whose circumstances...
  16. Difference between mx d, fx d and hybrid mk

BTW: how did you end up with the harder rubber on the BH side? BH is a much smaller, more compact stroke. Not everyone....but most people....benefit from a slightly softer rubber on BH because, with the smaller stroke, you usually end up with not as much force on impact. And to use a harder...
  17. Difference between mx d, fx d and hybrid mk

Mostly agree. But if he is playing with the harder rubber on the BH side and he thinks he might be better off with the softer rubber on both sides, HE SHOULD USE THE SOFTER RUBBER ON BOTH SIDES. Ditch the MXD and get FXD for the BH side so you have FXD on both sides.
  18. Video Footage Safe Thread

Funny. You both have been on the forum so long and Jeff has showed so much video of himself in the Daily TT Chit Chat thread, I am surprised you did not know who he was.
  19. Video Footage Safe Thread

I do think pretty much everyone who can give you feedback on the footage knows who you are. :) I would actually be surprised if Kuba didn't know as well. :)
  20. Why #19 is illegal?

Joke? Or real question? In # 3, in the shot in question, did the ball bounce on the table?
