  1. The counterloop era?

I disagree with this. I think the 38mm Cellular Balls with Speed Glued rubbers was the fastest the game has ever been. Everything they've done since then (40mm+ plastic balls, no speed glue) has been designed to slow the game down. I think the players are more explosive in general, and newer...
  2. How durable of Dignics 09c

I've been using it on my FH, with D05 on my BH. I wouldn't say I've noticed much difference in durability. D09c may be a little less durable as the rubber loses it's top sheet grip, but it's pretty close to D05 in that regard.
  3. Tenergy 05 vs 05FX?

You aren't entirely wrong, but let's look at T05 vs Dignics 09C I find Dignics 09C to be significantly less sensitive to incoming spin, and much better for serve return than T05. I also find it spinnier than T05. Now, a lot of this will have to do with the fact that Dignics is a harder...
  4. What booster does ESN use on their rubbers?

Sorry, I did know that but force of habit in referring to "Euro" rubbers as "ESN". The very few people IRL I've spoken to about it, always seem to refer to "Euro" rubbers as ESN (Butterfly included) - But of course, you are very right! And yes, my short lived experiment with MX-S and MX-P were...
  5. What booster does ESN use on their rubbers?

OK, I can't speak for that rubber, but I can for the 2 most "common" Euro ESN rubbers (Butterfly and Tibhar). Neither of those brand leave any form of residue or anything - They just look like normal rubbers. People say they can "smell" the boost/tuning from the factory, but I'd say this would...
  6. What booster does ESN use on their rubbers?

What rubbers is this referring to?
  7. Blades for restarting/relearning Table Tennis

As someone who has had a similar path to you.... I don't think changing the equipment is going to make *too* much of a difference here. I think you are trying to achieve something by changing equipment, that you can only achieve through practice and match play. Sure, thinner/slower rubbers...
  8. What booster does ESN use on their rubbers?

Without explicitly knowing for sure, I agree with @lodro and my assumption has always been that the rubber mixture or the process of making the rubber/sponge combo is one that includes the "boosting" element. Quite what that involves, I don't know, but I very much doubt they are applying...
  9. Tenergy 05 vs 05FX?

No, I find T05 or 05FX to be very poor at serve receive unless you are confident in your strokes. Likewise, the answer to your original question is highly dependant on you. I prefer 05, my teammate prefers 05FX - We’ve both had a huge amount of success with it on the backhand. If you are...
  10. Viscaria for a beginner

It’s really hard to offer advice without seeing any video. You described yourself as a beginner, and taking money out of the question, no one would recommend a Viscaria as a beginner blade. If you are using it, and are happy, then great - That’s all that really matters. It’s a game, it’s...
  11. Viscaria for a beginner

As ever, it's not a straightforward answer, but I'll try and keep it brief. Advantages of a FREE Viscaria: • It's Free. I'm from the UK, so right now, saving money is high on the list of things to do! 😂 • You can *try* the blade, and see what it's like for you without having to invest in a new...
  12. FH vs Backspin tips

I appreciate this is not an “overnight” change, but I hold the bat much lower down on the handle. I find it gives me more options down the line, and helps the transition to backhand. It would also help if you have bigger hands. But…. Changing the grip is quite a big thing, and I only hold...
  13. FH vs Backspin tips

Late to the party on this one as well! Not sure I can add much to what’s already been said….. But when has that stopped me! 😂 As a fellow tall guy (I’m 6ft 4), getting low is great….. But if you can’t recover for the next shot, it’s a bit useless. I’d like to see you continuing to loop...
  14. Stop someone from buying to fast rubbers

Harsh opinion incoming...... If he's not very good after 7 years, I don't think changing his equipment is going to make any difference (assuming he's not going to start having coaching). He might as well use something that makes him happy..... Now, if he decided to get coaching, I'd recommend...
  15. How to play against "wall" player?

Sorry for the late reply on this one. Your comment right here is half the problem. You don't see many unconventional players on YouTube, or in the Pro's or on Forums - Every "good" player always seems to play a nice traditional game..... The reality is very different at the top of the amateur...
  16. What do you think is the best tournament ball?

Not that I think anyone will say anything (in fact, I'd be amazed if they even knew), but did you know the XSF balls are no longer on the approved ITTF list? Here's a statement from TTE - https://www.tabletennisengland.co.uk/reminder-about-approved-balls-for-leagues/ For anyone else, do you...
  17. Talking big.

Brokenball, everyone is entitled to express their opinion, even if that opinion isn’t one shared by the masses. I’ve never seen a video of you playing, but if I can be blunt for a second….. You sound like someone who has read a lot about table tennis, partly understands the science around...
  18. TT brands introducing new series too fast, hard to understand

There has been many comments on this already (I’ve already made a few myself). “Better” is subjective in this context, but I personally believe D09c is better than T05 for a number of reasons. 1. it’s less responsive to spin, so a wider range of players can take advantage of it. 2. It’s...
  19. TT brands introducing new series too fast, hard to understand

Maybe it’s just my super cynical mind, but I don’t see any company releasing new equipment with anything other than “profit” in mind. Butterfly are probably the worst for this, Most new “technological breakthroughs” are just another way of doing the same old thing in a pretty new package...
  20. Can you see the ball turning ???

Simple answer - No. More complex answer..... If you *can* see it, I'd imagine the standard of play is not particularly high, and the level of spin is very low. But even the dead shots at a high level, the ability to read it does not come from the fact you can see the logo..... It comes from...
