Well deserved win for Miyu Nagasaki over Satsuku Odo. Miyu's had an amazing year. Hope it continues!
  2. WTT Champions Japan 2025 - 7-11 Aug 2025

Maybe he can apply to be a ball kid man?
  3. Nagasaki: "I've never liked table tennis that much to begin with..." (#1169)

Miu Hirano returns to T-League from CSL. She wins a tight 3-2,11-8 match over Mika Tamura. But she loses the Victory Match to the same player, Mika Tamura. An amazing team victory for Kyoto Kaguya Rise over powerhouse Abyell.
  4. Why did Honoka and Hitomi break up their WD pair?

Quoting 5ch users (and their fake, made up animosity) is not the same as quoting the actual article. I read the actual article on plus.world-tt.com . Her decision to leave her T-League team was in consultation with her T-League coach Masamori Oshima who knows she wants a shot at the Olympics...
  5. Nagasaki: "I've never liked table tennis that much to begin with..." (#1169)

Congrats to 12 year old, Miku Matsushima (sister of Sora), winning both the U17 and U15 at the 2025 WTT Youth Contender Hong Kong. In U17 she beat 14 year old Lu Yu-En of Taiwan. In U15 she beat 13 year old Cocona Muramatsu, another very promising young prospect. Miku is now 3-0 vs Cocona in...
  6. WTT Star Contender Foz do Iguaçu 2025 7/30-8/3

An army of vocal SYS fans would be protesting inside and outside the arena if the two were ever in the same tournament!
  7. WTT Star Contender Foz do Iguaçu 2025 7/30-8/3

Honoka Hashimoto joins forces with Satoshi Aida in XD in qualifiers. Aida in has been much more offensive than defensive so it should be an interesting combination.
  8. WTT Star Contender Foz do Iguaçu 2025 7/30-8/3

Yes, it includes Teams as well. A very nice setup for team China. Here's the section they added to the ITTF Handbook: c. Olympic Champions (Gold medallists in all sub-Events) are entitled to an entry into the Grand Smash Main Draw and Champions Events as Olympic Champions Gold Cards...
  9. WTT Star Contender Foz do Iguaçu 2025 7/30-8/3

I think this is because WTT added the Olympic Gold Card rule which allows past Olympic champions to get automatic entry to Smashes / Champions events without the need for a wildcard/nomination and not count towards the NER limit. I think that is how China gets to have 6 women...
  10. WTT Star Contender Foz do Iguaçu 2025 7/30-8/3

https://www.worldtabletennis.com/eventInfo?eventId=3093 We head over to Brazil for Star Contender Foz do Iguaçu. Top seeds are Buenos Aires champions Hugo Calderano in MS and Miwa Harimoto in WS. Honoka Hashimoto, WS Champion of Contender Lagos, is the 4th highest ranked player in WS, but she...
  11. WTT Contender Buenos Aires 2025 Jul 22-27

Miwa for sure is #1. Honoka I agree is #2. But now the hard part comes. Honoka has been fantastic against non-Japanese players, but she is going to have an an issue if she meets Mima or Satsuki early in the draw as both are prodigious against choppers... even the best chopper in the world...
  12. WTT Contender Buenos Aires 2025 Jul 22-27

All The Champions of 2025 WTT Contender Buenos Aires
  13. Nagasaki: "I've never liked table tennis that much to begin with..." (#1169)

Great debut for 13 yr old Kokona Muramatsu taking a game off of Fan Siqi and putting a lot of pressure on her throughout the match.
  14. Nagasaki: "I've never liked table tennis that much to begin with..." (#1169)

Yes, I mentioned this back in post #579 that she joins Top Nagoya, and her brother got promoted to manager of the team.
  15. WTT Contender Lagos 2025 Jul 22-26

Not to take anything away from Sreeja as she's had a fantastic tournament, but even at her best I think top 10 is perhaps too high. Honoka Hashimoto doesn't even make top 10 after her points from Lagos. I think eventually Honoka will make top 10 though. If you put Sreeja in the top 10, then...
  16. WTT Contender Buenos Aires 2025 Jul 22-27

Miyu Nagasaki posted that the venue caught on fire so her match is postponed until tomorrow. Everyone is safe.
  17. WTT Contender Lagos 2025 Jul 22-26

Well, it's a tough balancing act trying to maintain your ranking so she can play Smashes and Champions while at the same time fully recovering from injury. Miwa wasn't robbed. There was no cheating or points mistakenly given to Hina. Absent that, you either win or lose.
  18. FISU World University Games 2025

Highest ranking for Sidorenko was WR#100 in 2022 https://tabletennis.media/players/vladimir-sidorenko/
  19. WTT Contender Lagos 2025 Jul 22-26

I don't know what happened, but poor Hina losing to Sreeja Akula at 7,8,3 is not normal. She needs to rest. Pencil in 400 points for Honoka Hashimoto.
