Kyoka has the toughest QF. Wang Xiaotong has gotten used to the pips. It's shaping up to be quite the battle.

Whew! A close one, but Mana Asada 4-3,11-9 over Yang Yiyun with a serve that YYY returned long. Asada was down 5-1 in the decider, but she cleaned up her errors. Got a bit nervous up 10-7, but she pulled it through.

We're going to a decider. Asada has the game to win, but she really needs to cut down on unforced errors.

Kotomi Omoda through to the quarterfinals beating Han Feier of China 4-1. Kyoka Idesawa easy 4-0 over Katarzyna Wegrzyn of Poland.

Japan XD Gold !!! As bad as Okano's receives have been all match long, he comes up with a down the line FH flick on receive to get to match point. A great match that went to a 7th game decider .

Feng Yi-Hsin played like a superhero! At times changing the pace. At times going all out. Add in great placement. This guy played with an extremely high IQ. What a match !

I think Sun Zheng is better than Zeng Beixun. Extremely stable and just as much if not more power than ZBX..

Early timeout for Feng Yi-Hsin up 8-7 in game 1. Better stability and quality from Feng than Kao.

You can tell that Kao is feeling a ton of pressure. He doesn't want to go down as the top player losing 2 matches. Hopefully, he can get his focus back. Edit: He tends to go for too many all or nothing shots. Just need quality.

Sun Zeng was super stable, and Kao was at a power deficit. Huang.Yan-Cheng takes game 1.

Amazing play by Kotomi! She has a fiery personality, but I can't believe how calm she was when playing YYY. Even we she missed a shot, she did not get down on herself. Just nodded and kept cool. Japan for the first time ever beat China at the FISU games. Kudos to Kyoka Idesawa for keeping...

Good opening game for Kotomi. Successful primarily attacking the middle, but mixing it in occasionally with attacking wide.

Another 3-0 victory for Kyoka Idesawa ! Up to Kotomi Omoda vs. Yang Yiyun now. Hope Kotomi got practice against choppers. She's gotta keep a cool head which hasn't always been the case.

Whatever happens, Kyoka Idesawa has a certain tenacity to her game. She was down late in game 2, but pulls it off. Now up 2-0 over Wang Xiaotong. Hopeful, she can win this.

Sakura Aoi has high quality serves, great anticipation, quick as a cat, but getting overpowered in extended rallies.
