  1. How to read sidetop vs sideunderspin serve!?

This serve is hidden by his free arm so it is technically illegal anyway. The sound of sideunder is different to that of sidetop or no spin, it is usually a bit more heavy brush muted sound because to get good sideunderspin you have to brush a lot. Also trajectory is different between...

I think Harimoto is a lot less aggressive in his BH opening loops against heavy pushes in recent history. He is somehow just content with defending his close table position and doing somewhat of a lukewarm BH opening loop (varying between light spin and heavy spin). If he were to train a quality...

Cant blame him - even FZD can lose to LSD when he plays like he is on LSD (pun intended)
  4. Daily Table Tennis Chit Chat

I have a slightly higher elbow in general because i do a lot of chiquita and am a bit more BH dominant. I also do my FH more starting with a hooked grip but I am fine with that because it is quite easy to generate a lot of spin with that grip using finger assisted pronation. But yeah I think...
  5. Daily Table Tennis Chit Chat

imo it is quite important to have FH and BH structure using similar grip as well as elbow positions. If you watch a lot of BH players (see for eg Fan Zhendong, Harimoto, Lin Yun Ju), their FHs have relatively higher elbows too, whereas if you look at Ma Long which has a relatively low elbow...

Tbh, although he lost, Harimoto's reverse pendulum ties in so well with the rest of his game - he should really start using it more to make his game richer in variation. I think he won almost all the points when he used his reverse pendulum.

More weight = more momentum to use for weight transfer = higher shot quality lol. But it would be easier to move with lower weight.
  8. Attacking float balls

For short dead balls, regardless of whatever you do it your blade has to be about perpendicular to the ball during contact. You can do almost anything from short to long push to sideswipes to chiquita to flicks.
  9. Attacking float balls

It depends whether or not it (the dead ball) is fast or slow. If it's slow then you can treat it like an opening loop except you go more forward in your stroke and dont start so low. If it is fast it is a lot more difficult because you're also pressed for time. In this case easiest is to counter...
  10. US Ratings to UK

Imo based on what I see no way Tom or Dan is that low.
  11. WTT Contender Almaty 2024 Sep 3-8

Oh Junsung has a really solid game from both wings and is very consistent - quite the opposite of the traditional Korean mindset of 3rd ball loopkill and ask questions later (see for eg Cho Dae Song)
  12. San Francisco looking for training partner.

I actually tried K3 on someone else's blade and it felt a lot like Dignics series. Catapulty and spinny - it is a very good rubber. But yeah the durability sucks a bit too much - if you take that into account it is a more expensive rubber than D05 for eg :(
  13. Help with forehand topspin

Pretty sure the grip is not correct - it looks way too stiff. Also dont move your left leg backwards after the stroke.
  14. Daily Table Tennis Chit Chat

On the other end of the spectrum are venues with slippery af flooring that would cause falls and other accidents. No way i can do any of the footwork and weight transfer aggressively in those venues. Fml lol. My old training partner (the one with the LP/inverted penhold playstyle) had some...
  15. How do I chop serve with my rubber? ( Stiga Dragon Grip)

If you dont want sidespin, dont drop your wrist (ie paddle pointing down) and use more of a 'hook' grip. One helpful tip is after contacting the ball pull the racket backwards and upwards with the racket tip pointing upwards at the end. Basically racket pointing down = pendulum sidebackspin...
  16. Daily Table Tennis Chit Chat

I have played on high friction tables in another venue, but i could adjust to that. But this combination (high friction table + high friction and high suction flooring) is really killer, because a lot of the micro adjustments with the feet are simply too difficult to execute. And having to work...
  17. Daily Table Tennis Chit Chat

I can continuously loop like 10-20 balls against choppers at my usual club and maintain the rally easily, and it felt physically easy to do that. In this new venue, it is not so much the spin, but the shortness of the ball which is really unexpected so I had to reach all the time (like what you...
  18. Daily Table Tennis Chit Chat

Went to a venue I hate... so basically the floor is super soft + sticky/tacky even though it seems like a professional surface. If a ball drops on it from table height, it bounces only maybe 2 times before coming to a complete stop (due to the tackiness). So yeah all balls that come off the...
  19. San Francisco looking for training partner.

This sounds like a kinda W968 like feel? A bit more muted and springier compared to normal Viscaria?
  20. San Francisco looking for training partner.

To elaborate on the lower centre of gravity i made a post on it: https://www.tabletennisdaily.com/forum/topics/posture-to-loopkill-underspin-easily.35049/ So what a lot of ppl get wrong is that they think lower centre of gravity = bending at knees alone which is wrong. A lot of it is actually...
