It is difficult to say. I was very surprised that R53 didn´t feel as hard as you´d expect and from my memory it felt better than R50. But then, no two rubbers are the same and if I´ve come across R50 harder than their nominal 50 and an R53 that feels like 51 degrees it might be a different...

That is possible. I tried the 47,5 version and it didn´t feel special. bluefire, Hype EL, you name them. But a harder sponge may well make a difference.
