Mental gymnastics required to make this analogy is staggering.

So a 35 year-old dude ranked #344 in the world, who peaked at WR #40 14 years ago, just eliminated a supposed "clutch" player. Well, I guess congratulations are in order. Someone should record several hours worth of Harimoto's obnoxious choing and play it back to him on repeat as punishment.

Hopefully, by November, we will have a European W#1 and LSD will be out of the top10, where he belongs.

Thanks @zeio, how would we ever know these things if it weren't for you?
  5. WTT Champions Macao 2026, 9/8-13

If true, this person needs to be banned from the events for at least a year and made example of.

No surprises there. I once nearly threw a photographer out of the hall during a league match for using a focus-asist beam. An actual professional sports photographer respects the sport and uses gear accordingly. Lenses that are used for indoor sports are fast (f/2.8 mostly) and flash isn't...

Some players really seem to struggle with that backhand. It's like they have trouble reading the bounce.
  8. WTT Champions Macao 2026, 9/8-13

Very few have stroke variation like Truls. The way he combines spinny hooks and soft-touch inside-outs really is nearly unparalleled in Europe.
  9. WTT Champions Macao 2026, 9/8-13

Choking is reaching the finish line and not being able to cross it due to a psychological block. Harimoto came back from 6-10 in game 7, secured a mach point, and instead of capitalizing on the psychological advantage, started making errors. It's actually a pattern he's been repeating for...

I'm way too far behind you to even have this conversation. Btw, welcome back, Mr. Moregard. @zeio You okay there, buddy? 😆
  11. WTT Champions Macao 2026, 9/8-13

Also, very unattractive for spectators. It throws a rather unruly shade at the whole spectacle.
  12. WTT Champions Macao 2026, 9/8-13

Often. The sports psychology course I took was kind of a disappointment, tbh. You're demonstrably right, though. Take Truls, for example. After winning Europe Smash in such a dramatic fashion and brutally dominating Champions Montpelier right after, I expected him to become a rock. A mountain...

I've been guilty od cheering exuberantly when the opponent missed the ball. It was genuine joy, though, not mind games.
  14. WTT Champions Macao 2026, 9/8-13

    A clutch player doesn't choke.
  15. WTT Champions Macao 2026, 9/8-13

Good Lord, you people really can't tell when you're being trolled, can you?
  16. WTT Champions Macao 2026, 9/8-13

    Shellberry no-show.
  17. WTT Champions Macao 2026, 9/8-13

Problem, 智和? Regardless of who wins in the final, Truls is finally back and the sport of table tennis is better off for it.
  18. WTT Champions Macao 2026, 9/8-13

I see your point, actively trying to irritate your opponent by excessive shouting is terrible sportsmanship. However, where do you draw the line? If we started penalizing this, the umpires could start penalizing every "cho" they wanted to which would invite chaos.
