  1. Continuation on splintering problem

I find it surprising and disappointing that many blades do not come sealed from the manufacturer. Some blades really need it, and without it would almost certainly splinter after the first removal.
  2. Who was the 1st player to use boosters?

Yes I agree completely, speed glue was definitely a health issue and had to go... of course it had been a health issue for decades already, while they turned a blind eye. Regarding boosters. I agree as well. There's no evidence it causes any health issues (most ingredients are common household...
  3. Who was the 1st player to use boosters?

I remember someone from the ITTF said (possible Adham Sharara) in response to a question about what players would do after the glue ban, they said that manufacturers would find an alternative to speed glue, one that would pose no health risk. Well, they did, and what did the ITTF do? They banned...
  4. Has anybody boosted Hammond Z2?

I assume you use water-based glue to glue them onto your bat? If so it sounds like a faulty batch to me.
  5. Has anybody boosted Hammond Z2?

It's quite rare for a Japan-made rubber to bubble. How long did you use it for?
  6. What's a good Chinese bh rubber?

I think you'll find that this big difference in weight is actually due to different sponge hardness, even if they're marked the same value. I've had some sheets that were hard as a rock (and heavy) and some very soft (and light), even though they were marked the same value. This leads me to...
  7. Sponsored player’s rubbers

That's the rumour, but I'm not convinced. It simply does not make sense to have a seperate machine or production run just for making a different rubber for sponsored players. If there is indeed a difference, it's likely they are just hand-picked from a regular production run, and selected to by...
  8. Daily Table Tennis Chit Chat

    Wow, awesome effort Jeff!!!
  9. Is black tenergy softer and spinnier than red?

I agree, but as with the most Euro/Japanese rubbers, the difference is very small and pretty disappears after a few sessions when the rubber is worn in. For many Chinese rubber and also most tacky hybrid rubbers, the difference is greater and lasts longer.
  10. 729 Blue Sponge

The 729 blue sponge is harder/denser compared to the Hurricane blue sponge. The 729 blue sponge does react the booster better compared to the orange. The 729 FX BS is definitely slower compared to hurricane, and I agree with the posters above, it's not nearly as tacky as it used to be in the...
  11. Players lost the option to change sponge on the sandwich rubbers. T4 revision.

I can't see how that's in the interest of players. I CAN see how that's in the interest of the ITTF though; e.g. a rubber which was released with the 3 different sponge hardnesses only required a single fee for ITTF approval... with this new regulation it will require 3 fees for approval.
  12. Tibhar MX-D

Are you saying that it loses weight because the booster evaporates over time? I can't see how else it can lose weight, but if it truly evaporates, surely the enez (or whatever the latest ITTF sensor machine is) would pick this up when testing bats.

  14. Blade sealing/varnishing question

The DHS 301 blade has a very porous outer ply, so water (from the sealer) soaks in more easily compared to most other blades. I've not used the Joola sealer before though. I often use the sealer from Donic/Tibhar/Xiom, which are all the same and have the little sponge on the top of the bottle...
  15. Question about stretching rubber on blade

Yes it does, but it can also make it inconsistent as you might not be able to stretch it consistently over the whole surface. It can also cause the edge of the rubber to come loose, as the tension pulls in the rubber from the edge.
  16. Where to buy bat with long pimples online ?

DHS makes pre-made bats with long pimple on one side (Cloud & Fog), not sure who sell this in the UK though.
  17. What is the closest clone of Yasaka Ma Lin Extra Offensive?

The Ma Lin Extra Offensive is not that expensive... why look for a clone? Cheap clones generally don't have the same quality control as original blades... that's at least part of what you pay for.
  18. Der_Echte's SDC Spartan XD

    Awesome looking blade!!!
  19. New Xiom Jekyll and Hyde Rubbers

Perhaps it's like one of short pimple rubbers that can be glued onto your blade in two orientations? Although you would not be able to see the pimples, the orientation probably still has an impact.
  20. Advice for new rubbers

The Rakza X are already high-end rubbers. If these do not give you enough power, you should probably look at a faster blade. In saying this, since your rubbers are 2 years old, a couple of new sheets are already going to give you significant;y more spin and a little more power.
