I thought that gue yan has been retired but she's still playing

The 'Big' Guo Yan who used to represent Team Beijing is now a coach of Beijing Team.
The 'Small' Guo Yan is a 20-year old athlete from Sichuan. She is now a B Team member from the national team.

Draws of men's tem events quarter finals (Aug 30):
Shanghai vs Jiangsu
Shandong vs PLA
Sichuan vs Henan
Beijing vs Guangdong

No time for a full summary of Aug 29, just something about ML vs FZD:
ML vs FZD was not a high-level match. :( CCTV reporter Li Wujun wrote on his Weibo: After 3:0 win against ML, Wang Tao, the coach of PLA team, told FZD that this was only a group match and ML might just play it as a trial.
My own analysis: PLA had a 2:1 against Beijing in the first three sets (ML took Zhou Yu, FZD took Wang Chuqin, and Xu Chenhao took Yan An). Even if ML won this 4th set, in the 5th set Wang Chuqin would have very slight chance agains Zhou Yu. Therefore, after Yan An losing to Xu Chenhao in the 3rd set, Beijing was unlikely to win. The top 2 teams from each group would qualify for the quarterfinals and the game between Beijing and Tianjin later was the decider. Beijing MUST win their match against Tianjian or they cannot be qualified for the quarterfinals. Perhaps in order to save his energy and resources, ML strategically did not play at his best. It is a little bit disappointing that this match was not very exciting. But the National Game is like a marathon - you don't want to use up your energy early.
Will we see ML vs FZD again in this Game? Well PLA and Beijing will not meet before team's final (if they can). In men's singles ML and FZD will not meet before the final (if they can). Even in men's doubles ML/XX and FZD/ZY will not meet before the final (if they can).

Preview of men's teams events - quarterfinal (Aug 30):
(1) PLA vs Shandong is expected to be very exciting. Shandong is back in shape - They won two matches today agains Zhejiang and Heilongjiang. Fang Bo (3:2 vs Yu Ziyang, 3:0 vs Xu Yingbin, 3:1 vs Xiang Peng) and ZJK (3:2 vs Xiang Peng, 3:0 vs Wang Bo) did not lose a set in today's matches. Will we see FZD vs ZJK? FZD vs FB?
(2) Beijing vs Guangdong is another match that is difficult to predict. ML lost to Zhou Qihao and had a difficult win against LGY in Marvelous 12. Yan An looks like not in shape in today's matches. Guangdong won all three matches in the group stage. Will they keep the momentum? This match will be on stream (CCTV5, 7am, Aug 30 EDT).

Good luck to all the players!
And the singles event draw is released. I'll try to upload it later this afternoon.

Team Beijing is sponsored by Xiom. And he is still using H3 blue sponge. Some CNT player used to play with Yasaka rubbers on the BH side (Fang Bo, Yan An, ?Zhou Yu?)
Ok ya thanks. I saw carefully and noticed the blue sponge. Sorry my bad [emoji14]

The group stage seemed quite intense. For men's team, 3 seeds out of 8 are out: Hunan, Heilongjiang and Hebei, replaced by Guangdong, Henan and Sichuan. For women's team, 2 out of 8 seeds are out: Liaoning and Shandong, replaced by Hubei and Hebei.

Ma Long vs Zhou Yu

So good to see him back in action. Such an inspiring player.

BTW: is Zhou Yu using his signature blade from Donic?

Here comes the main draw of men's singles event!
30 players will be playing in the men's singles event - therefore top1 and top2 seeds (ML and FZD) go straight into the round of 16.
Sep 2: Round of 32
Sep 3: Round of 16
Sep 4: Quarterfinals
Sep 6: Semifinals and final

ps. Anyone knows how to make the image larger??? I tried several times and it's just so small. Looks good on my own computer though...

With some effort, it is possible to see the "attached image"

We might see FZD vs LJK on round 16!
