FUNCTION 1
An uniform ID Label on the sponge back side. This is to enable the racket control official to see if the player's rubber (a sandwich combination) obeys the rule 3.2.1.3. Also, the ID Label is to reveal when the manufacturers did make some illegal alterations to the original sponge.

FUNCTION 2
A special surface treatment on the sponge back side works as a protective membrane to prevent from the abuse of sponge (manual applications of the oily boosters) either by players or anyone else.

APPENDIX
Exemplary design of the ID label.
The size of the frame may vary depending on the printing apparatus.

INSTANT VERIFICATION OF SANDWICH RUBBER.
Check up on the back side of sandwich rubber. Presence of a proper ID Label will indicate the legitimacy of the rubber. A sandwich rubber not having a correct ID is deemed an outlaw.
