Parallel WTT Contenders are going on this week. This one in Brazil is probably better for those hoping to improve their ranking (ex: Kanak Jha) heading into the Olympics as there are no Chinese in this tournament.

I noticed Miyu Nagasaki is pairing with Sakura Mori in WD and with Yuta Tanaka in XD. I think it's a good strategy for Miyu to become a doubles specialist for future World Championships and perhaps go for XD in LA 2028.

Sato and Hashimoto of course advance to the Main Draw. Yuta Tanaka impressively beat Fanbo Meng 3 straight 8,9,3 following his Feeder Cappadocia title. Kanak Jha is up next on Table 2.

Wow, Olah comes back from down 8-10 in the 5th to go up 11-10, only to miss a smash to finish the match. Now Jha TO and we go on...

Jha couldn't keep his serves short and Olah was able to attack right off the receive at several critical moments, including the winner at match point and bears Jha 16-14.

I'm surprised Kanak had so much trouble with Olah's reverse pendulum. That's something I'm sure he's seen a lot of.

Poor draw for the choppers. Sato could meet Hayata in R16 and Hashimoto in QF.

Edward Ly didn't have any trouble against Olah beating him 3 straight. He gets into his offense early and often and was able to attack Olah's reverse pendulum that Kanak was having trouble with. We'll see both of them in MLTT.

As DHK said at the end of 2022 (12/08/2022 at 7:20am), she didn't handle her mindset well after reaching her new high of WR7. Therefore, those with "mismatched" continental points would be under higher pressure, especially when coupled with the lower seeded players in WTT events.

Also, don't forget that PDR has been suspended for WTT CT (only 3 from Top 20) and SCT (only 6 from Top 20) until Paris 2024. Except for WTT Nominations, the LOC can't play the favoritism card now, so manipulation of the player list and in turn the draw will be reduced to a minimum, and Murphy's law will take it from there.

As of this moment, Hirano did the right thing opting for Taiyuan. She will have an easier time prepping for WTT CS Chongqing 2024.
