Interesting insight from Tanaka on 3-2 WCQ. He expresses his gratitude to his physiotherapist 香川英信/KAGAWA Hidenobu for body maintenance and bench coach 李龍飛/Li Longfei for game plan. On perfectly handling WCQ's shovel serve at 12:12 in G2, Tanaka says that in the MT match between Harimoto and WCQ, he learned that the shovel serve was mostly topspin, and while he was prepared, that turned out to be case in the match. He is glad that intel proved useful. Even though he wasn't as confident in the rallies, they were easier to handle than he imagined and that gave him confidence. (Interestingly, Togami felt the same about WCQ after WTTC 2021.)

Tieba users are poking fun at WCQ for that.

(Hidden serve got cracked, finally)

FH and BH seem like Dig09c and a victas ruber?
Yarilog says D05 and VO>102 (2.0mm).

Why is that surprising? ML has always been the better player.

Can't complain about ML vs FZD final
ML has always had a hard time against LYJ and Harimoto, if you will.

https://mytabletennis.net/forum/for...eam-chinas-race-to-paris-2024-singles#1143073
The draw was favorable to China at Tokyo 2020, had Ovtcharov faced FZD and LYJ faced ML instead, the results could've been very different. Ovtcharov and LYJ haven't been exactly the same for the Paris 2024 period but the former has beaten FZD and the latter has beaten ML, and on top of that Harimoto and the Lebrun brothers are set to become the next obstacles, ML is no longer the go-to choice.

The fact that Harimoto revealed in an interview after WTTC 2022 that he wanted to play ML shows he is not afraid of him (WCQ is the one he has the hardest time).
