First of all, the design is really nice. It also is very round, and it isn't much harder than the "old" ball. It isn't lacking in spin. If anything it is MORE spinny than the "old" ball. However, it is MUCH slower. I hit shots that would never go on, and they land short of the edge of the table. It seems like the ball floats instead of cuts through the air. If anything is going to make rallies longer, it's this thing.

Alright. Here's my take on the ball. I have to say, I was pretty disappointed when I used this ball. From reading agold's review and many others, I thought that the ball would be very spinny, somewhat like the old ball but a little slower. Boy, was I wrong.

This ball is for one, not very round. I don't complain on the "odd bounces" that others do. However, I do feel like it is something to note here.

Secondly, it is just too slow for any play. No matter how I hit this ball, it just seems to float through the air and land "softly?" is how I would like to describe it? I don't know. It's a very weird effect.

Next, the ball lacks any sort of spin. I tried putting loops in, serves, pushes, etc. Nothing had any spin. I couldn't do anything with the ball.

However, the ball (being so bad) did help me adjust to the DHS balls and how they play. I don't know how this works, but that's what happened. Final verdict:Don't waste your money on these.

I got my 3 ball pack from the official retailer in my country. Well 2 from the three balls broke after two edge hit, not cracked, but exploded. So, less then two hour for a single ball. The third one was less round and 'lived' 5 hours. The surface remained grippy and the playing characteristics did not change. Overall they remade the Butterfly 3star cell ball from poly, with a bit less speed. Well as far as durability is concenrned I would not buy this ball.

Update!
A new series of poly balls came out called Easyball and they improved a lot. Well it definetly plays like a poly ball, but it is very durable and round, not perfectly round. Butterfly dismissed the feeling to gain durability.

OMG ! I really don't like this ball, you just don't know where you are with it, after trying the DHS plastic ball and being quite happy with it , I thought I'd try a quality butterfly ball, as this , I thought, must be even better! WRONG! It floats something terrible and in a warm room wobbles like a returned ball from Lentec swing!( Not many that remember that nasty piece of lp I bet ) it seems to take an age to come down, making timing your loop shot very tricky, it's wierd! Hope I've just got a bad box, please let me know if anyone else has the same issues 😣😣

Okay, so I bought a pack of these balls. Visually they look very good, nice pink logo, cool design. However when I tried the Butterfly balls they felt a lot softer than other plastic balls I have tried. Also the speed was not up to scratch either. I tried my friends Butterfly Plastic ball and his felt okay so perhaps I had a bad batch. Not to sure how the plastic balls are regulated but I much prefer balls without a seam. They are faster and break less.

Lets hope these balls get better fast!

They are using this Butterfly plastic ball at the World Championships this month...

i just follow all the others reviews from the above. tried a friends butterfly ball and was very disapointed. i expected more from butterfly. maybe it was a bad ball that we tried but when reading the above statements i fell more convinced that it was not just our ball that was bad. ball was nice designed but that dont help when the durability is bad and the roundness.

Like many other new balls they keep disappoints me. I thought this Butterfly ball was much slower then I was expecting and I can't say that the quality satisfied me. Some were good round but many I tried felt a bit eggy, really miss the old ball.

we have about 100 plastic balls and about 40% are "round",the rest are ecpliptical...
the durability is poor.
the rest is as it should be.
because of the non roundness the ball is good for reaction training but it can be sometimes frustrating(the non standard ball rebound)

for the price these balls should definitely be better, after a couple of sessions many are turning egg-shaped and even breaking, the speed and consistency are generally okay however occasionally the ball just seems to dip after bounce

Like my review with the andro plastic ball, the old versions of plastic balls from Butterfly were not good, slow and broke easy. The newer versions of plastic balls are better quality. I think the manufacturers were forced to make better balls. The new generation of Butterfly balls is good quality.
