This one is specifically for the London-based table tennis community.
I am among the many thousands of travelers currently planning a weeks-long stay in the big city in April/May. With the knowledge of London's outrageous hotel and airbnb costs, it makes sense to ask here (where there is a strong London presence) about sublets and rooms to rent temporarily. I'm looking at roughly 20th April to 15th May, almost 4 weeks.
My role at the WTTC is not only spectator. I'll be working alongside Table Tennis England as a consultant and statistician, and am sure to have plenty of stories to share with whoever I end up staying with. If you would be interested in making a friend behind the scenes, to elevate your WTTC experience, and make a bit of cash on the side, let me know and we can have a chat.
A bit about me, I am originally from New Zealand but have lived in Australia, Singapore, and the Philippines. Currently working remotely as a digital nomad while traveling around the world (always with 🏓 in my bag). I work together with historians and enthusiasts to improve the sport from a statistical standpoint.
This is only one place I am scoping out accommodation. There are plenty of subletting groups on facebook, and I have a cousin in London with a couch to crash on. Ideally it would be fun to experience the 100th anniversary with like-minded people, and go for a game at your local club as well.
Reach out here if you are in the same boat as me, looking for a place to stay during the World Champs, or if you have suggestions. Look forward to catching up with the TTD community in London soon!
