For your blade G1 is a good alternative to T05 for forehand but not for backhand. G1 on your blade will feel hard on backhand. Better get Glayzer.

As mentioned above nothing is the same as T05 but if I want to choose alternative which has closest behavior to T05 (catapultish/bouncy, spiny, etc.) i would choose Tibhar MX-P or Rasanter R48, they are not same as T05 but behave similar

For those who played T05 a long time... and pick up a rubber that is not T05 (Only T05 plays and has p[roperties of T05) than hands down MX-P is a rubber that lands the ball with the same strokes used for T05.

User after user, including myself, reports that they are amazed that changing nothing on the swings the ball lands... and lands a lot.

Issue is that that the resultant shot is not the same as T05, it has less arc... issue is the top end is faster, which may or may not be good... issue is that it is less spin sensitive, so easier to receive spinny serves or spinny topspin... (but T05 all you needed to do against heavy topspin was to make forward contact and you overcame the spin - hold it there and not move bat and ball flew off into stratosphere.)... issue is MX-P does NOT have the feel or sound of T05...

So never a 100% solution and always trade-ffs exist, good and bad for user.

Still, there is not another non-T05 rubber I have ever used that the user does the same T05 strokes and ball still always lands.

Still, for a competitive player about to do important TT tourney business, another sheet of T05 is the only reasonable way to compete for that business.

Maybe after the immediate competition business, other considerations can be considered, but just slapping another rubber, no matter how suitable has adjustment problems for competition - it takes a little or a lot of time to adjust.

If absolute peak performance for the next comp is important, it would be a not so good choice to change right now.

Offhand, I agree that if the upcoming competition matters to you, stay with what you know.

But I also understand your price concerns. I use Andro R48 with the ultramax sponge. I wear it out in about 6-8 months. I had heard/read that the Tenergy costs more but lasts much longer so that its cheaper in the long run. So I gave it a try and they are indeed similar. So that may be an option for you.

I agree with you but as OP he is looking for cheaper alternative, there are a lot of examples provided where if we want to look closer we could find something similar but except (MX-P, R48) nothing is as close as above 2’s, and yes they are not the same for sure.

I’m playing with T05 on one side, and I was also looking for something similar but not due to the cost but rather for curiosity I finished with this according to the principle "better is the enemy of good" and stayed with T05 because it’s suits me, it suits blade I’m playing now and get used to it.

And even if it is 1/4 of monthly salary, taking into account that for OP it lasts more than a year, I still would go for T05 again and avoid being frustrated if alternative will not work. that's my 2 cents.

Thinking outside of the box, if you really need Tenergy 05 to be competitive then maybe try doing a TT blog about your journey and add a fund me. Just a few ppl donating a dollar here and there and you can have rubbers for the next season.

I've recently started taking part in tournaments, so if I get good results I'll look for some kind of sponsorship.

if the price and durability matters, I don't think we can elaborate more, just get FastArc G-1 and enjoy. Maybe it is not 1:1 alternative but they have a lot of common. and nothing beats G-1 in terms of durability even T05.
Get G-1 and get used to use it.

Saturday I'll be with a friend who uses the FastArc G-1 on both sides, so I'll test it out for a while.

I looked up the R48 and here in Brazil it's around 30 to 35 per cent cheaper than the T05.
I think it's a good solution too.
I don't know if it's a prejudice against Andro haha, but I asked around where I train if anyone knew or had tested any Andro rubber, out of almost 60 people who train there, no one has ever used it.
