The legendary Fantômas is back!
We created this blade using only Kiri wood, which has a low density and weight. The surface is covered with hard and incredibly heavy eucalyptus, allowing the blade to penetrate even the hardest rubber and accelerate balls at maximum speed. Another interesting feature of eucalyptus is its controlled, calm, passive action, without any sudden movements or surprises, despite the overall high blade speed and aggressive attacking play.
Blade Parameters:
Composition - 7 layers, 5 wood, 2 carbon
Head Size - 151 x 158 mm
Weight - 91 grams
Thickness - 6.0 mm
Handle - FL, 102 mm long
Balance - Low
Frequency - 1500 Hz
Is that outer ply
View attachment 40272
Is that outer ply made from Grey Ironbark? 🙂 If so, that stuff is so strong you could probably have left out the carbon.

There's two prevailing theories about ironbark amongst Aussie woodworkers:

• half of them think it's a tree pretending to be a rock,

• and the other half think it's a rock pretending to be a tree.

... anyway, it's stupidly hard and hardy stuff 🤣🤣

We had several different types of eucalyptus wood and used the heaviest and hardest. Initially, when I tested the blade, it felt incredibly fast. No matter the playing distance, the ball flew very quickly from any direction, and I walked far from the table and felt like Hugo Calderano :). But the weight was too heavy. We ground down the surface, which reduced the weight, thickness, and speed...., but gave more control.

Yeah that sounds like Grey Ironbark all right... Especially the weight!

Iron bark has an average density of over 1100kg per cubic metre, and a Janka hardness rating of about 17.5 to 18.0kN -- this makes it harder, heavier and faster than Macassar Ebony! You should see people trying to machine the stuff -- when you run it through a circular saw, the wood is so hard in places it literally creates sparks instead of sawdust 🤣🤣🤣

On the plus side, if ever you want to make an Ebenholtz style blade, any of the ironbarks will make an outstanding candidate for an outer layer.

(PSST: Here's a Hot tip from one bladesmith to another... Ironbark also has a deep red variety that is just utterly gorgeous stuff!! It's a tiny bit lighter and less dense than the grey stuff you've used (ie: around about the same hardness / weight scores as ebony) so it will give you a bit of a weight saving, but still have the exact same performance as an outer layer... Plus it looks and finishes SO MUCH BETTER than grey iron bark -- imagine a streaky, highly figured, blood red version of ebony. Just stunning g stuff.

If you can't get any if that, try to get some River Red Gum instead. It looks and performs just like the super hard Rosewood that Stiga also use in their Ebenholtz, but still has the same sort of stability and control you're currently getting out of that that grey ironbark. 😁😁)

Love your work, and good on you for giving Aussie TT timbers a try. Respect! 😎👍🏻

Flight Red Line
For me, this is probably one of the best long-stroke blades we have made so far. It is simply impossible to miss and get to the wrong place. You can rotate the top spins endlessly. The longer and faster the movement, the faster and better the top spin. It goes best with Eurotensors and Japanese rubbers.
I am very pleased with the result of our work and immediately very sad to part with this blade....
Blade Parameters:
Speed - Offensive
Composition - 7 plies, 5 wood, 2 soft carbon.
Head Size - 158x151 mm
Chord - 88 mm
Weight - 86.5 grams
Thickness - 6,2 mm
Handle - Anatomic 104 mm
Balance - 32 mm
Frequency - 1477 Hz

The blade look very well crafted. What is the composition, used woods and can you add side view?

Offensive blade from the Super Looper series.
This series is similar in structure to Viscaria, but made from different materials, resulting in greater control in the short game
This blade has a solid wood handle inlaid with a trident - the coat of arms of Ukraine. It also has a low balance, which makes it easy to spin the ball even with two heavy rubbers.
Type - Offensive;
Composition - 7 layers: 5 wood, 2 carbon;
Koto surface, carbon immediately under the coto;
Blade size - 158x151mm×88mm;
Thickness - 5.8mm;
FL handle length 104mm, inlaid with a Trident;
Balance - low 25mm;
Frequency - 1406Hz.
