Best blade from Butterfly, DHS or Nittaku for Dignics 09C FH + Dignics 05 BH for an intermediate-advanced player?

says I love ping pong🏓
Hi everyone,

I would like to ask for advice about choosing the best blade for the following setup:

FH: Butterfly Dignics 09C 2.1
BH: Butterfly Dignics 05 2.1

I am an intermediate-advanced player, and I am mainly looking at blades from Butterfly, DHS and Nittaku.

Price is not a factor for me. I am looking for the best and most suitable blade for this setup, not the cheapest or best value option.

My goal is a setup with:

- high control
- strong forehand topspin
- heavy spin
- good short game
- enough power from mid-distance
- stable backhand with Dignics 05
- suitable for an intermediate-advanced player
- not too bouncy or hard to control

I currently play with Butterfly Harimoto Innerforce ALC with Dignics 05 on both sides, and I like the control and feeling of the inner carbon blade.
However, on FH I feel that I want more spin, more grip and a heavier topspin ball, which is why I am considering Dignics 09C on FH.

I previously tried Viscaria with Dignics 05, but at that time my technique was weaker and it felt a little too fast/direct for me. Now I have improved and I am wondering if an outer ALC blade could be a good option again, especially with Dignics 09C on FH.

My main question is:

Which blade from Butterfly, DHS or Nittaku would be the most suitable and also popular/proven with Dignics 09C on FH and Dignics 05 on BH for an intermediate-advanced player?

I am especially interested in opinions from players who have actually used Dignics 09C on FH with Dignics 05 on BH.

Would you recommend an inner carbon blade, an outer ALC blade, or something else for this setup?

Thanks in advance.

Just put D09C onto your current setup. D05 and D09C are already really good rubbers and will play well no matter the blade you put them on

If you don't like the blade anymore then it is really up to you to determine which direction you want to move coming from HALC. If you want a more direct upgrade from HALC you can look at HSALC or Ovtcharov

Thanks for the replies.

I really like the control, balance and feeling of my current Harimoto Innerforce ALC. It feels very stable and comfortable for me, especially with Dignics 05.

However, I feel that I have reached a stage where the blade is not fast/powerful enough for what I want. I am looking for a blade that can still keep good control, but give me a heavier forehand topspin ball and more speed/power, especially when I play more aggressively.

That is why I was thinking about this setup:

FH: Dignics 09C 2.1
BH: Dignics 05 2.1

And I was considering putting this setup on either:

Butterfly Fan Zhendong ALC
or
Butterfly Viscaria regular

What do you think about this direction?

Is there any real playing difference between Fan Zhendong ALC and regular Viscaria, except the price/design/handle? Or are they basically the same blade in performance?

Also, someone recommended S968 to me. Do you think S968 would fit the setup I suggested with Dignics 09C FH and Dignics 05 BH?

At the moment, I am not interested in changing to Zyre 03. I prefer to stay with the Dignics 09C FH + Dignics 05 BH idea for now.

Thanks.

Your Harimoto Blade is perfect!
If you want more spin spend the money on a good coach who can analyse your stroke and perhaps help you perfect your hand finger movemen at contact, this is likely where more spin can be added.

D09c and D05 are both excellent choices in their own right but it's worth remembering that 09c is harder sponge and so extra spin is no guarantee by changing rubber, it is 9 times out of 10 gonna be tweKs in technique that are going to get you what you want.
