Hi Debbie,

Check out 'Bribar' table tennis' via google, they are an online shop based in Kent. They have a great choice of quality premade bats for learners. you can also call them and have a chat, they are really pleasant / helpful and will be able to give you some great advice and help choose a set up for you.

Depending on how serious you are, I would be looking to spend at least £30 - £50 on a set up.
Then you will get a reasonable blade and rubbers.

For a beginner, racket is not the most crucial thing for development, but its important to get a slower rubber when you're starting out to get a sense of control, and feeling for the table. If you start on a T05 (Butterfly Tenergy 05) you will always hit the ball out, and its not the rubber, its your technique. You can develop a good technique with a slow rubber, heres a few
