Dear Vrael,

Sorry for coming back late on your question.
Indeed I really think carbon wood + Max thickness is just too much hahaha
I don’t know how you play, but to give you an idea, Imanage to drill topspin that the opponante don’t even touch with an ALL blade andregular Yasaka MARK V in 2.0mm for fun. (not my usual setup)

So I strongly recomande, that to try an other set upjust for 1 training so you’ll see the difference.

I was thinking about a blade like Tibhar IV L (notexpencive) and keep the same rubber in a first time, so you will really startto feel the ball.
It is exactly what I did in the past, and this justopened my eyes J

Just so you guys know, Vrael is not using a carbon blade. He used to and always did until he started playing again after a break. He is also a decently high level player with good strokes and good footwork. My money says, what he is considering not good on his backhand is pretty good compared to a lot of players. But not good enough against people his own level because it is significantly lower level than his forehand which is quite good.

The blade he has been using has Zylon in it but no Carbon. I have a feeling part of his trouble is that the Inner Force ZLF is so soft that is doesn't quite work for his backhand. That is one of the softest blades I have ever felt. Also, on Innerforce ZLF, the Zylon is below 2 plies of wood so it only kicks in on big strokes. That blade acts like an all wood blade on any touch shot.

An all wood Off- blade would act very similarly to the IF ZLF close to the table. But I can't think of any all wood blades that are as soft as the IF ZLF because it has two fairly thick plies of Limba which is one of the softest top plies and under those two plies of Limba is Zylon which is also SOFT. The ply construction for the IF ZLF is:

Limba-Limba-Zylon-Ayous-Zylon-Limba-Limba

That equals: Soft-Soft-Soft-Springy-Soft-Soft-Soft

So, if a blade like the Stratus Power Wood he is looking at or his old, classic, Butterfly Kiso Hinoki 5 (five ply Hinoki, a looper's dream) work better for him, part of why would probably be that there is more solidity rather than all that softness. That is at least my guess.

But Vrael, you should hit with a few all wood blades before deciding exactly what you want to do.

Hi there,

I think you have chosen not the right combination with your BH.
As Carl has mentioned before, your blade is quite soft, and it is not advisable in combination with the soft rubber. (FX sponge).
So the first thing to check this is, try your T05 on the BH.
If it is working but too fast then step 1 thickness down for the BH rubber.

Hope this help you.

Good point - that might fix it.

Thanks a lot for Your suggestions. I though simillar thing to what Carl has said, tha Innerforce ZLF is too soft for my bh stroke and indeed, just like roger said, tenergy 05 works better for me on bh than 05-fx. I will try to hit with the hinoki, but I remember it was really head heavy with tenergies and it lacked the power from mid distance, that's why I have changed it. I found a friend that will be able to borrow me old viscaria, so I will test the ALC blade also. You gave me a lot of good sugestions that I need to check now, thanks again :)

Good deal. It is worth testing things before you jump. I will look forward to hearing what blades you think work well for you.

And I am starting to think that a Virtioso Plus or a Nittaku Tenor may be just what you need. But you will know if you try the right blade.
