I tried the Rxton 9. It 's basically like H3 which is pretty unfriendly to play with unless it is boosted or well broken in. Boosted it is good but I was using a blade that was too stiff for me so did not get the best of it. LAC still has much more accessible power and does not require boosting. I've only had one new LAC start bubbling out of the over 10 sheets I bought.
So, you mean Rxton 9 boosted is slower than LAC unboosted?

According to Loki's own ratings, they say Rxton 9 is faster than LAC.

Ligthly reboosted R9 (for reglue) has more topend speed/spin than LAC in my experience. LAC sponge while hard its less dense than R9 so it feels a bit more on the hybrid side...even stock Factory R9 felt dynamic & a bit faster on harder shots. Durability on my LACs its great so i cant complain but others had bad experience. R9 durability seems top notch, tack & grip its great with proper cleaning storage its still going strong for half a year!(even if it looks worn around the sweer spot) and the sponge takes booster really well. I hope you can test it (i know you have doubts based on price but its a great rubber)

haha. I think I will test it eventually, but I strongly suspect I will be disappointed. Double Fish Volant Phoenix is half price and sounds like it matches R9 in every way. It is hard, tacky, powerful, good control.

How is your Rxton pink going? is it responsive for you? or kinda slow?

and did you test Telson China and how did you like it?

I guess you can be disappointed based on your expectations, i love my R9 and it will stay as my personal FH rubber, to perform on my level and keep progressing i dont think i need anything more.
Currently i lend R3 pink to one of my students and its fine, still great grip and speed with good control. Trying to develop "proper" drives with good brush/contact ratio and different timings.
Im waiting for a package hopefully next week to test telson 100, kirin rubbers 1&3 telson speed and telson china.

I dunno what's wrong with my Rxton pink. But it feels dull and flat and kinda slow on my bh. Feels like it doesn't respond to my input.

Unboosted, at the low end and mid range if you are not going all out, the LAC simply flies compared to the Rxton 9. Rxton 9 boosted it is much closer and perhaps it is better on the high end but I will need to test it on the my newly acquired spare blade to be sure when I get a chance..

You should try Loki Rxton 3 Blue boosted on the BH. It's somewhat similar to the Pink but the speed and spin is on a higher level. Kinda surprised that they are marketed as the same except for color, as they are night and day difference for me. On harder hits, the Blue makes a loud cracking sound and gains a gear in speed. This doesn't happen when using the Pink.

Also the Blue seems to have less issues with topsheet separation.

Are you using the 39 or 40.5 degree version? Seems like you have a completely different experience with it from @mattlamperouge. Was thinking I could play with it unboosted like LAC but now you're making me think twice.

This maybe an issue of Loki inconsistency too, especially for a new product. I've seen some rave reviews of R9 and some where the verdict was just 'pretty good.' Sometimes feels like people are talking about different rubbers altogether.

It's the 40.5 version. Maybe I'll try the 39 degree version next time but it's a trade off between having to boost the rubber 2-3 layer to make it usable for me vs just slapping on the LAC and go. Let me know if you're at the club again I'll let you try it and anything else I have(which is way too much).

Maybe get Double Fish Volant Phoenix and see if you like it better or worse than Rxton 9.

I feel technique, level and previous experiences with different rubbers/blades matter a lot on each player perception or rating of equipment.
Recently we did some test with clubmates and some rubbers+ blades seem faster when flat hitting or easier speed at least like T64, while i can reach higher perceived speed+spin with R9, LAC, H3neo, R3 pink/blue etc with more of a "hitting brush" looping or when contact its more tangent with the ball while driving etc.

Rxton 9 is made for boosting.
its national grade rubber aka booster
same as H3 national, you won't by it and use it unboosted.

The performance of R9 boosted and not is night and day.

Some say, some equipment are for professionals,
most professionals (who use chinse rubbers), boost. So boost is like the norm.

40.5 is very hard if you don't boost it, then maybe try with 39.

For me Rxton 9 is the closest to H3 I have every experienced.

Is it faster than H3? A number of people have said that Rxton 9 is much faster than H3. But you are saying it is the closest.

Do you mean it is closest in feeling and function? or closest in speed/rebound?

I’m sure by now you should know I will never talk fast or rebound about rubbers but rather feeling and function since that is all relative to a players level.
The equipment being aligned to the player is the worth or quality of the rubber and R9 is really good.

You need to learn, speed isn’t the correct method to measure, since every national grade rubber are fast enough

Ignoring speed, how would you rate the feeling and function of Volant Phoenix compared to Rxton 9?
