I'm not surprised G1 is used for beginners.

I think G1 is a specially balanced rubber that one can learn a lot from and with.
For weaker beginner strokes, the firm topsheet is pretty forgiving and not very spin sensitive. But when you learn to hit through the topsheet and engage the sponge, there's a lot of capacity to generate spin and speed too.
There's a little bit of a caveat where I feel like medium power shots can be unpredictable, but on the other side that does force one to either commit to full engagement or play soft touch shots.

Lots of tensor rubbers either have a soft topsheet, which can result in loss of control on passive shots and short game, or a harder sponge to match the topsheet, which makes it more difficult to engage properly.

today hit the buy icon for two sheets of Dignics 05 because of its price drop @ USD 53.50 / Euro 45.50 inc shipping. One Zyre03 can buy two sheets of Dignics 05.

over half a year ago, a star BTY player said its a beginner rubber
I understand where that person would be coming from. Zyre 03 kinda feels like J&H Z52.5 where it peaks out and the ball has the same quality regardless of swing.
It doesnt feel like you're doing anything and it just goes.

Mixed review from pros, but seems some try to adopt it. Maybe it needs a significantly different technique and strategy to use well so one who is already used to the current equipment finds it hard to adjust his style and strategy.

of course if you have played with sticky rubbers long enough, you will probably not be enarmoured with the "highly grippy" wannabe sticky topsheets of the other brands.
They can test it and come to their own opinions. You are right as to what might drive the difference in opinion. It is still just his, I think Zyre is really for the T05H crowd.

All DHS has to do is improve their sponge technology, improve the H8-80.
I don’t see why they need to do anything atm. There’s a reason they haven’t developed much beyond the H3 Neo, H8-20, and the H8-80, the Big 3 of DHS. Look at the H9 for example

Yes, for them tho more is more and they're only lacking dignics quality. But H3 and H8 on backhand is enough market share tbh

Yup, G1 remains a great rubber, I see lots of good level amateurs using it. Does Mima Ito still use it as well? I still see many players - far better than me or most average amateurs - using tried and tested stuff like MX-P, Tenergy, Rasanters etc. Nothing wrong with those, and if they fit your style / needs then there's no real need to worry about them holding you back from whatever your aims are.

I struggle with Zyre - it doesn't look to fit what I'm usually comfortable with these days, and it's far too expensive to just try as an experiment. I don't mind spending £30-35 on a new rubber to try it out but £90 is really hard to justify on what looks like a pretty extreme outlier. I'm waiting for some lower-level reviews on YouTube, I'm sure some will be along soon. This is the only one I've found so far that seemed a bit more real-world -

Even my usual daft levels of curiosity are letting me down on this one.

So is DHS working on a 2.7mm thick sponge new rubber to match up with Zyre?
this hurts my shoulder just thinking about it. i was surprised by how much of a difference i felt on my 2.15 h3n compared to the 2.10 h3n (same hardness)

Same i want to try it but if I spend 90€ on a rubber, I pretty much have to use it until it's completely worn. And if its to fast i have to use a too fast rubber for maybe a year, if its durability is better then d05 as claimed 😬
