If the rumors are to be true, what a shame for Xiom. It's similar to Donic, no real superstars if Hugo leaves. Is Butterfly/DHS/Tibhar paying that much more?
I would certainly love a H968, although I quite dislike DHS politics regarding provincial/national versions of equipment (even boosters, lol). It would make sense to sponsor the best player from the Western hemisphere, I feel like DHS likes to stick with Chinese stars, maybe politics are involved.
It would also make sense for Butterfly, the South American market is for sure huge and Hugo is the face of the whole continent, similar to Omar Assar for Africa.
In any case I would buy a new Hugo blade, just because the guy is so likeable. Look at his page, if he didn't turn pro in table tennis, he would most likely be a superstar in a different sport. He is a beast
Wut? Donic has anders lind no? Isn't he a superstar? Also they're going all in one Zhang Jike, whats with organising Zhang Jike cup

Lind is a great player, yes. But then Butterfly has like 5 oder 6 better players signed, that's what I meant.
Zhang Jike is probably still quite popular in China, even though he had some scandals. Usually companies sign active and promising players, not retired and scandalous superstars with their best days behind them.

It's like if GEWO would sign Waldner now, like who cares at this point...

As for the catalog, if you look at the characteristics of the blades, you can't understand anything, while Butterfly, on the contrary, gives precise specifications that allow you to understand the type of blade even without trying it directly. The specifications in the Xiom catalog are incomprehensible.
Xioms naming system for everything has to be the worst out of all the premier equipment producers, all the carbons has sci-fi esc names which are cool but I have no idea what's going on, and the JKH variations are just so unclear. Why not have a dedicated page for you're flagship rubber line telling you the differences like what butterfly did with diginics. Xiom PMO, the handles are sick though

Xiom's 2026 product and fashion catalogues don't feature Calderano. No equipment is named after him either. So, rumours seem to be true. It's a shame that they couldn't hold on to him.
Separately, the product lineup for 2026 is largely a name-changing exercise, which most likely will dent their sales further as it becomes difficult to know what exactly were the preceding model names for a host of their blades.
Building product/brand loyalty seems to be a concept Xiom is not interested in despite offering some of the best equipment in the market currently.

When it comes to choosing players to be sponsored by the company, ranking position is not the decisive factor. This is especially true for Butterfly. They pay close attention to the player’s personality, the story surrounding them, the country they come from, and their marketability. They have to be marketable.

I think Hugo is ideal for Butterfly because of his personality—he has that rare athletic spark, he’s interesting from multiple angles, he’s simply classy. And he has a lovely girlfriend, Bruna :)

There have been excellent players with dull or problematic personalities, and that’s not appealing to Butterfly. Reputation comes first.

Imagine, a Bruna x Hugo couple BTY blade. One with green, the other yellow handle. Epic! Pure epic-ness!
